I just found the pic on google and used paint. My brother-in-law told me him and his buddies would start singing this when they dropped their rifle in sniper school.
For those who are unsure what is happening, the little dude just messed with the sniper's scope compensation. Every time you use a gun intended for long range and has a scope you need to take some time and rounds to align the crosshairs of the scope with where the bullets are going, more commonly known as zeroing. So what this little twat did was mess up the sniper's zero and now he has to waste time and ammo fixing it.
the thing he was adjusting is the side drum, which does absolutely nothing to the zeroing of the gun
the gun is zeroed when the drum is at "0" and it goes to something like "right 50" to "left 50" which means he has 50 clicks each way to adjust for windage, spin drift, yaw, powder temp, density, altitude and all that **** .
this is only a temporary adjustment, and is changed every time one of those variables change.
don't believe me? Well **** you cause i am a sniper
well you're partially right in saying he was wrong because he was also partially right.
you have to zero your scope to the sights of whatever gun its on, for instance you put a new scope on a new rifle you have to zero it so your scope actually points at where the bullets hit at whatever range you zero it for, then you do the adjustments you mentioned.
also i've literally never heard the word side drum before and i'm pretty sure you made it up and just *********** your comment by using a lot of "buzz words"
don't believe me? well **** you cause i've shot a gun like a few times and i can use google
Nobody seems to be pointing this out in the comments, so I'll just say it:
Any sniper worth anything has a record of the scope settings of every (or very nearly every) shot they have taken with the rifle, especially what the setting of their simple zero are. Many scopes (especially ones suitable for sniper work) have the ability to actually move the dial so that "0" on the dial is their chosen zero. The sniper will have absolutely no difficulty putting the scope back where it was. If this sort of thing is a problem, this guy has no business being in the field.
