But gun violence is outlawed.
Do you really think a criminal is out to deliberately break the law?

This made me chuckle, thumbs up.

However, I bet some people are confused as to why banks put up this, almost meaningless sign.

This is for people who legally carry guns. Some states allow for concealed weapons.
The bank is stating that if you do have a firearm, it should be open carried within the confines of the building. This way, the bank attendants know that you're not there to rob them.
With this sign being present, if you conceal a weapon (and an attendant happens to get a glimpse of it) they will know/assume that you're there with bad intentions. They then can warn authorities and possibly stop a bank robbery beforehand.

Armed Gunman sketch in The Onion Movie

I'll just leave this here...

It's like in the movies when someone is being chased by some maniac with an axe and they scream "no! please don't!"

Do they excpect him to go "Oh, okay i'll stop" and then leave? whatdafuk kinda logic is that?

all humans have mercy and some people might realize what they're doing and hesitate probably not but you gon git recked either way so why not
User avatar #10 to #8 - hitchednegima (06/13/2014) [-]
I can kinda see why they do that, I would do it too. Axe murerers are human. They have had a life with people they love who have passed away. Maybe begging for mercy triggers something human in their brain.

i was talking about his reasoning sherlock...

>criminals dont obey laws
>why have laws?
User avatar #17 to #16 - PVTDickStryker (06/13/2014) [-]
It's not really an argument of "why have laws?" Its more of the argument "Why have laws that cripple the lawful?"

He wasnt making an anarchic statement, genius, he was emphasizing the point that the only people that'd follow anti-gun laws are people who aren't criminals.
User avatar #18 to #17 - angelious ONLINE (06/13/2014) [-]
same thing with drugs. murdering and jaywalking
User avatar #19 to #18 - PVTDickStryker (06/13/2014) [-]
Except for the fact that anti drug, murder, and jay-walking laws dont set up the lawful on a silver platter.
User avatar #20 to #19 - angelious ONLINE (06/13/2014) [-]
i do believe drug lords are better off than most people.

jaywalking saves time

and hitmans can make a lot of money fast.
#42 to #20 - endospore ONLINE (06/13/2014) [-]
False analogy ahoy! Here's the thing:

Drugs: Hurt people, cause addiction.
Jaywalking: Congests traffic, can cause accidents and kill people
Murder: Kills people

Carrying a gun anywhere: Absolutely nothing (unless you use it, but that's a separate crime.)

Give me an example that doesn't have a detrimental effect.
User avatar #73 to #42 - angelious ONLINE (06/14/2014) [-]
and if you couldnt carry a gun anywhere you couldnt shoot people :I

also im not arguing for gunlaws im arguing that this way of arguing is stupid
User avatar #58 - gibroner ONLINE (06/13/2014) [-]
guys if we'd just outlaw murder and crime it wouldn't happen anymore
