Hmm, I should have looked into that. Anything else in there I can change to stabilize my FPS? I don't keep a smooth 60 even when my GPU/CPU aren't fully utilized.
User avatar #15 to #14 - deadmice (11/16/2015) [-]
Sorry, deleted my comment because it was way more insulting that i realise was called for.

To anyone else, I said "change the fov in the .ini" then left a potential insult if he had it on console.

Anyways back to the question, first, what GPU and CPU do you have?
User avatar #16 to #15 - rmoran ONLINE (11/16/2015) [-]
2x GTX 970
i5-3570K (Quad-Core 3.4GHz, currently OC @ 4.4GHz)
1600mhz DDR3 ram

I might just be an SLI issue since I had to force it.
User avatar #17 to #16 - deadmice (11/16/2015) [-]
First thing is the game doesn't do SLI. I wouldn't bother, and forcing it will probably be a cause of a few of your issues.

Secondly, turn God Rays to low. Some people with GTX 980TIs reported 30 fps boost.

Here is a comparison between ultra and low god rays. you can do a pixel by pixel comparison, the only difference is the tree because they were taken at different times.

Its weird when i hear about people with 980TIs for example, having fps drops or stutters in their game. I have 2x 980TIs and without downloading the new nvdia drivers or turning SLI off my game ran perfectly fine with absolutely no performance issues.
User avatar #51 to #48 - deadmice (11/17/2015) [-]
some people have issues, some people don't. its an pretty poor optimisation job and there are a whole host of factors that can slow you down.
User avatar #19 to #17 - rmoran ONLINE (11/16/2015) [-]
I read about the god-rays thing, but I didn't know it was that meaningless. I've been running them on medium. I remember god-rays hitting me hard on FarCry 4 as well. The lag can occur even in small places like the railroad HQ room (~40 fps).

Also my SLI did help my FPS quite a bit even if it isn't technically supported. I didn't really do any testing, but I got a very noticeable improvement when I turned it on.
User avatar #20 to #19 - deadmice (11/16/2015) [-]
If you want more of a boost, turn shadow distance to Medium. It still renders the shadows out to a distance that you dont notice them not being there on far off stuff.

For more, try turning off screen space reflections, as these can cause framerate hits in places, as can the "bokeh" depth of field.

I turned off the games Vsync and then locked it to 60 with rivatuner now i almost never dip below 60 with 2x970

Here is a guide to change the FOV, and also a few other tweaks in the ini files.

if you've ever wondered why the gun is always so close to the face, it's because games are developed to have a small FOV (Field of Vision), so that the machine has to render less pixels.
sometimes you can manually set the FOV to something more realistic on PC though.

The retarded one is meant to represent what it looks like as you focus on the target down the sight.

So an arm coming out of the center of your chest is a more practical example as opposed to a shoulder mounted camera...
Seems legit.

actually realistic would be holding the hand gin with both hands for better accuracy and stability.
people who run around shooting their gun with 1 hand are very inaccurate, usually hold it sideways and are ******* retarded.
User avatar #21 - lovot (11/16/2015) [-]
Then there's Borderlands 2, but when you look at how your character is holding the gun it makes more sense.
User avatar #7 - kouzan (11/16/2015) [-]
But what if Doom's camera was mounted on the shoulder. Not over the head, or chest

see, try this. put right hand in front of you like holding a handgun. now close left eye i know youre supposed to keep bot eyes open shut up and look along your arm as if aiming down sights

looks like that doom one huh?
User avatar #6 - loganmadder (11/16/2015) [-]
Close one eye
Stick your arm straight out
It is in the middle of your vision!

Also, max FOV masterrace
