People ask why I didn't go past community college...well, if you complete college you MIGHT get a good job. Or, you might end up a bum with a six figure debt you can't repay. Seems like an irresponsible gamble. There probably wont be any intelligent comments
Because we don't have jobs. All the manufacturing is getting outsourced to China because it's cheaper. A lot of the engineering design phases like the AutoCAD is being outsourced to India because it's cheaper and theyre schooling a lot of Indians in STEM fields there. India is poised to become a superpower as soon as they learn to poo in the loo.
The only jobs left here are labor (which are actually great jobs; most unionized metalworkers and oil rig workers make upper 5 figures, some even lower 6 figures) and service industry which pays jack **** .
There is a huge problem with more and more jobs requiring higher education, yet despite having that demanded education people end up in terrible situations including homelessness. Something needs to be done about this issue pronto.
"do you have higher education"
"no"
"we cant hire you"
"do you have higher education"
"yes"
"still wont hire you"
"why not"
"because we might have to actually pay you right, we want some immigrant who works on minimum wage"
I'd check out apprenticeships, people undervalue that route, and technical based skills are something that are lacking in this country. Oh and usually the peeps who offer it hire you after the training. Paid training is always a win as well. Too many dumbasses getting a degree in English literature or philosophy, how does any self respecting person expect to get a decent job with that?
Or be a dumbass and join the military like I did. Free tuition though.and some job training. If your smart enough you can get a job that'll pay well in the civilian world
