I HIE!
This comes from my experience working at a restaurant
for about three years.
1: Ask for no salt on your fries, and
they will cook you up some fresh ones.
2: A store with a bug infestation will
be shut down before it can affect your
food.
3: If there is a line, the food is
probably fresh.

I work at Chik-Fil-A and I have to agree with the last three completely. So far as bugs go, every restaurant is affected by bugs. It's a building constantly filled with delicious food, of course some bugs will show up. The question is more of how serious the problem is and so long as the establishment takes out the trash regularly, bugs can be kept to a minimum.

Also, we ALWAYS cook a fresh batch of fries for no salts. But you don't have to be a dick and request a no salt then add your own salt, you can just ask us to make them fresh.

But to be fair this is Chik-Fil-A, not McDonald's...

That's because Chick-Fil-A is the holy pinnacle of all that is fast food.
I worship you oh One who delivers unto me the glorious waffle fries and chicken nuggets I need to live

if I worked in fast food and saw a manager take food out of the trash, I'd report his ass.

That's ******* disgusting

When I was in college, I worked at Orange Julius. It was warm enough behind the counter because of the fryers, etc. and because you were constantly moving to keep your body temp up. When I would go out to the dining room to empty trash cans, mop, clean tables and everything else, it would be freezing cold. After asking, my manager told me why. Think about it. When you eat inside at a fast food joint, it's often really cool/chilly or down right cold. This is done to keep "traffic" moving. Instead of taking their time, the customers often leave as soon as they finish eating. (or eat faster) This is so there are always open tables and customers don't have to stand around waiting for one to open up. Especially in a mall setting. (We had our own dining room. It wasn't open like the food court.)
I apologize for rambling. I really need to go to bed.
Pic related. It's our customers.

As a seven year McDonald's veteran, and after talking with here is my take:
#1 - OP is basically correct in this regard, no-salt orders are a pain and a waste of time, requiring us to put down fries from scratch (cook time of ~3mins) and although we don't put already salted fries in the fryer (your ******* up your oil by doing that) we may just "accidentally" forget about it, or more simply pull you ahead and make you wait 5 to 10 minutes for your fries.
#2 - I'm sorry this doesn't exist in a non-backwater restaurant. This is ******* disgusting. The black flakes may be from the equipment's lining or something of the sort. You guys are disgusting-ass pig ***** .
#3 - This is completely true, the reason there is a line is because you're waiting on food 99% of the time.
#4 - This is completely true, however our McDonald's has standards (and cameras) so even if a shake were thrown in a trashcan that was just bagged, it's gone forever.
#5 - This is completely true, we get so much more money from the DT, meaning they hold priority over those inside.

But that's just YOUR store!

True, and we may not be disgusting ********* but speaking of ******* :
#1 - Employees have sex in the breakroom/cooler/etc.
FALSE- I've never heard of or seen anything like this. Now Managers on the other hand...
#2 - Managers have sex in the office.
COMPLETELY TRUE - I personally know of Managers caught ******* in:
McDonald's - both were fired
Culvers (look it up if you don't know) - both were fired
Walmart - both were asked to leave (fired)
#3 - Employees may spit in your food if your a bitch.
FALSE, but can't talk for OP's store. The only non-McDonald's ingredient ever added to our food in my seven years of experience was a really ******* hot hotsauce. And it was for an employee.
#4 - McDonalds' salads have more calories than their burgers.
FALSE - A standard salad has 140 cals by itself, while a McDouble has 390. Only when you add an entire chicken breast and dressing does it eclipse it

I call all sorts of ******** on all of these except the drive-thru timer. This is clearly a matter of where you worked. I worked at Taco Bell for 6 months, and have several friends in the fast food industry currently.

While we didn't have French fries, we had cheesy fiesta potatoes and tortilla chips/strips to fry. If someone asked for fresh chips or fresh potatoes, you bet your sweet ass you were getting freshly fried food, no matter the wait or line. If you wanted no salt on your tortilla chips, you bet your ass you were getting fresh ones WITHOUT SALT.

If we found one cockroach, which actually never happened while I worked there, we would call a ******* exterminator. If we found anything other than flies we'd call an exterminator to take a look. When we killed flies, we sanitized the **** out of the surface we killed them on. That's ******* disgusting. Your company policy is to call an exterminator to take care of any pest problem. That's illegal as hell, I really hope no one got sick from management's carelessness.

If any of my friends in fast food or I ever pulled anything from the garbage to give to a customer, we would get fired. Why? Because that's ******* disgusting and illegal. Your manager should have been fired.

Drive-Thru and lobby are both treated the same. Yes, Drive-Thru has a timer, of course, but that doesn't mean lobby customers would be forced to wait 20 minutes. We always worked as fast as we could for EVERYONE. If anyone had to wait more than 5 minutes, depending on the size of the order, we'd shower them with coupons and free **** .

Any business that does any of those is a **** restaurant. When I worked at a corporate McDonalds none of that ever happened. You can't put salt back into the fryers and we always made fresh ones for no salt. Food in the trash, stayed in the trash. The only thing on here that happened is that drive-thru was definitely top priority.

Man sounds like the store you worked at was pretty ****** , manager giving milkshakes out of the garbage? Cockroaches? Putting fries back in the fryer? These things probably happen cause your manager just didn't give a **** , I mean he gave a customer something out of the garbage. I guess #6 would be to avoid the venue op works. None of that **** would fly where I worked, and as for bug problems? not something I ever had to deal with at the mcdonalds where I worked.

This is so true.

Also, at subway, we reuse the knife that cuts your sandwich into halves unless you specifically say you have an allergy. Then we are forced to clean it and the cutting surface.

Also we let the bread sheets that held uncooked bread sit in the same water for five or six hours with our serving dishes, until we can wash them. We also only refill the sink with the decontamination fluid (not soap, stuff that kills all germs) once every meal time, so three times a day. That water is brown and nasty from washing hundreds of the bread sheets, which have to get done first, before we can even start with the dishes that hold the food.

Also the cut up food is usually sitting in the fridge behind us for several hours after we thaw it out. The only foods which arrive to be cut are the tomatoes and the meat patties.

Perhaps my favorite part is the boxes which say White "Italian" (in air quotes) Bread. It's not even slightly italian.

If there are bugs in the area where we do food prep, nobody cares. That's because you guys can't see where we prepare food and such.

We don't use gloves behind the scenes, when we can get away with it.

You should hear us in the kitchen during slow periods. Pic related.

Yeah sounds about right. At a deli I used to work at we had a really bad fly problem. They were ******* everywhere and my managers did not give a flying **** . The oil we fried everything in only got changed maybe about twice a month too. All of the grease from those 'ready to eat and fresh baked' chickens was stored in a grease tub and molding away not even 10 feet away from all of our food and prep stations. The sandwich station had 'fresh cut' meat that was more than a week old.

At my current job I got yelled at for trying to throw out some pizza and nachos that were 2 months past their prime. The room we store popcorn seed in has a rat problem but we are not shut down. I ******* found rat hairs in some 'fresh' popcorn once. Its a wonder I didn't puke everywhere. My manager also had me pick out the not moldy tomatoes in a batch of moldy ones to sell to people.

The lesson of the day is never get food from a movie theater and never get food from a deli.
