If I remember right, she felt like there was always attention on her and paparazzi were always taking pictures of her and harassing her and how one of her best assets was her hair and during that time everyone was telling her what to do with it. So she got sick of it all, all the attention on her and people telling her what to do with her own body, and shaved off her most famous asset then kind of lost it because people were still taking pictures of the whole series of events. Basically she did it because she was sick of the attention and the lack of control she seemed to have of her own life. There was a reason she more or less dropped off the radar after that incident and basically stopped performing. Personally I don't blame her. She seems like she was a pretty stable person, she just got pushed to her breaking point and that was the result.
