Some of the EU was incredibly cool, but alot of it was ******* stupid garbage, so bad it would make the ******* Christmas special blush. Not to mention it's confusing as balls, there are contradictions left and right. The EU had to go, there's no way they could keep making movies and have the EU, they would either need to contradict it or just retell the story which would suck. Would you give up any chance at more Star Wars films in exchange for the EU staying canon? No, because that's retarded, the EU stories still exist and you can still enjoy them, they're just not canon.

Kinda like almost no one in the HP Universe knew that Voldemort's real name was Tom Riddle. And even after the war, I don't think the Skywalkers went happily telling everyone that "yeah, Vader was my father". Most likely they decided to forget Vader as such and just talk about Anakin.

The scrapping was done so that the new films were not restrained by the outcomes of old stories. That being said, they're drawing a lot of reference from the EU, hence the 'legends' title. Some of it may be true... some of it may not. Can we not just enjoy it as that?

i know this is eu legends stuff but op did mess up some facts in the comp
Leia was only elected chief of state once. The first time she took over as mon mothma became sick.
Chewie dies when moon is dropped on him not when two planets collide. U stated it correct at first then messed it up on the second part
Han and leia eventually leave the corellian side because of the attempt to assasinate the queen mother of hapes consortuim not a corellian queen althougth hans cousin thraken solo gets killed along with two corellian leaders
Jaicen originally gets broken during the vong war by vergere allowing him to be one of the winning factors in the war but this breaking also was the start of his path down the darkside. during a 5 years journey to explore other force sects and the galaxy and such he suffers a vision that he is deteremined to change sith on the throne of balance and his child standing with him this along with vergeres training allow lumiya to convince him to become sith.
Mara jade only discovers jaicens fall to the darkside after her son ben skywalker basically tells her. ben for the most part was jaicens apprentice before and after he went to the darkside did missions for him etc etc. after a trip to zoiste and recover of the sith vessel named ship does all this come to light and mara find out mara follows him when he goes to visit his child in hapes he and the queen mother had a child together Its at this point in time after he kills mara does he become a full sith lord
Jaicen isnt foudn out as maras killer although ben suspects him way before hand until ben himself does a csi style investigation and discovers some of his moms hair in jaicens private stealth X fight stealth x fighters are modified new age xwing fighters made specifically to be piloted by jedi. thses craft are hard to sense and detect by most conventional means have shadow bombs, which are controlled by the force and dont use typical propulsion methods to be less detectable he presents the evidence and eventually its found out properly
And an honorary note that before the dueal of the twins which kills jaicen. his sister was trained by boba fett specifically to kill her brother. boba is also head of teh mandolorains has a grand daughter, etc etc

I also just prefer paper books over e-books. do you have any reccomendations for the best novels? like anything involving the yzang vhong (horribly mispelled i know) or darth mauls rebirth? ill just get the actual book ( **** libraries those are for poor people and the elderly)

well i can understand ur feelings with audiobooks. some of them are read in a less than ethusiatic manner. while some are good. and depends on where u want to start reading. one of the best for right after rotj is thrawn trilogy books. If like comics the dark empire comics which come right after thrawn trilogy are alright. although the legacy era comics (100+ years ABY) are good as well.
if want stories related to TOR or swtor xbox games . Anything about revan is good. Other good old republic stuff red harvest. and the darth bane trilogy
If want events leading up clone wars start with darth plagueis then work your way up (darth maul shadow hunter, rogue planet, jedi quest books, outbound flight etc)
Even some rebellion era stuff is good. Bounty hunter wars, tales from jabbas palace. death troopers
some early new reublic stuff is the xwing series books. Gives stories that dont revolve around luke leia han etc. also gives insight to how they took imperial center and solitified some of the hold on the galaxy after ROTJ
Dont start any new jedi order stuff without reading a few new republic era stuff. New jedi order starts the vong war. read at least thrawn trilogy/dark empire comics/ jedi academy trilogy/ Blackfleet crisis/ corellian trilogy/Hand of thrawn duaology there are more out there but those give the main story i myself dont like teh swarm war trilogy but its readable its where leia becomes a full jedi knight

Fate of the jedi series is good. also it has unabridged audio books availiable that are narrated well and interesting. Also the last in the xwing series is all teh way up here and its good. You have literally no idea of what's going to happen in the next two movies. I didn't like Force Awakens, but it's too soon to say that the whole trilogy is going to be **** (even if I think it is) or that this story is better when we don't even know the story of the next two films.
