Amusingly, the original title is 99 luft-baloons. Which literally means 99 air-baloons. To make the song work in English, they just threw a word in there that made sense to fill the syllable. Just something cool about the song.
Did they not expect that they'd have to clean it up? That'd cost a lot just to hire people to go around looking for balloons unless they were bio degradable. Even then they'd be in the way for weeks.
its also worth noting that helium so far, is not a renewable resource. **** just ***** off and away. i have a friend who absolutely hates helium balloons, i will go bother him now
I know hindsight is 20/20 and all, but how did this many people go along with what is so obviosly a terrible idea. say what you will about the holocaust but at least there would have been some good sides to it's success. doesnt this city have a mayor? probably with advisors and **** . how
People probably knew. They porbably said "We know this is probably a bad idea, but **** it, we wanna see a million balloons rise to the sky, how awesome would that look, what's the worst that could happen? nah, it won't happen, they#ll just fly up and away and spread and land somewhere else where it's not our problem..."
that makes sense. and it totally puts your city on the map and in the anals of history. we're still talking about it 40 years later. the more i hink about it the better it sounds. maybe i should get some folks together and break those records. for most ballons released and most people killed in ballon related deaths in a sinlge day.,
