I haven't actually clicked on the link, but seeing the title, I think I remember the post... it was infamous, and got some of the lowest rated comments I've ever seen Some guy made a post that he was a lurker for a long time, but he was dying of something. He had to go get surgery the next day and was pretending that he was probably going to die. After getting a ******* of thumbs, he came out the next day and stickied his own comment, saying (not verbatim) "you're all a bunch of stupid faggots LOL I can't believe you people are so gullible holy **** , I hope you all die of cancer IRL". That's basically it. The thumbs on the post went down from like 2000 to -500 or -1000, the OP got banned because back then, getting too many red pinkies = banned also, I remember another hilarious post where admin was banned from his own site because everyone was disagreeing with him. I don't remember the context, but it was funny as **** iirc , butthurt ensued, and that's all there is to it.

Basically, this guy is worried that thunderfap might be lying.

to donate to that would take me to beleive two things, one that OP actually has lung cancer, and considering the amount of times people have pulled this kind of **** to get thumbs, im dubious, and second, that you will give the money to OP since this is not set up by him, and again, im dubious, so sorry, but no.

of curse i wont give him the money without prof.
The money is to be donated if he can't provide prof or if he don't want the money.

As for me.
I couldn't take the money even if i wanted to.
I'm from Denmark and the economic laws here are insane.
If i touch that money i lose my student grant and get a giant fine equal to the money i received while studying. The state and tax services has direct access to my payment accounts so i can't cheat either

It's true you don't know. Yes. OP could be taking advantage of human kindness to get money/thumbs.
But my question to you is... is that really worth it?
Is the possibility that it could be a scam enough to stop you from helping a person in need, even a little?
It's true that we on FJ have seen many things, and have become desensitized. So have I. I watched that video impatiently, and didn't feel the slightest bit of emotion. After all, it has nothing to do with me. I've seen people die through my screen all the time; I love that stuff.
And yet, consider. The past is the past, but the future is yet to be formed. To what degree do our actions effect the course of the future is unknown. But, isn't it interesting to entertain the thought that maybe, just maybe, your actions today might just be the difference between life and death for another man?

It's $20 (or $5, whatever you would give) for someone's health/happiness, whether you believe it or not. I choose to put my faith in xorioz and his secondary plan to give the money to charity, so even if OP is lying it will still go to a good cause. If you've got it, give it. If you don't, don't.

I'm gonna do a video tomorrow that addresses some of all the concerns about this fundraiser. Including authenticity.
To tell you the truth I have been a bit comprehensive about doing an actual video.
I'm an introvert and i'm super ******* shy. I didn't want my face on this. guess it can't be avoided tho.
I'm also gonna do my best to persuade thunderfap to make a video of his own. But i refuse to push him. he has enough on his plate as it is.

Hey, you should make it a point in the post itself that if mr thunderfap is 1. A hoax, or 2. REALLY doesnt want treatment, that you'll give the money to a cancer charity that has a high ratio of money going to treatment, rather than the organization. Nonprofits sometimes tell you you're helping, but then 5 cents of your dollar only goes to the actual cause. 95 percent would go to the organization AKA organization higher ups.

Well. personally I think his word is good enough.
I know that's a bit naive. But i choose to be naive.

But in this case i'm handling a lot of money that is not mine.
So he wont see a penny unless he can show prof.
If he cant show prof. or if he doesn't want the money the money will go to a charity.

We were told that he's got small cell lung cancer. (presented with an picture that "looks similar to his X-ray"
That type of cancer usually has a more than terrible prognosis:
Even lucky patients where the cancer was diagnoses in an early stage, where it is still limited to only one lung (usually it's not), have a median survival of 14–20 months with treatment.
In his original post he said doctors gave him 3 month.
This leads me to believe that he is more likely to have extensive-stage SCLC, meaning that his chance of long term more than 5 years survival is 1-5%


Everything that can be done at this point is palliative care, meaning that the aim of the therapy is not curing the disease but ease the suffering, sometimes giving a few more month.

I think you should know that before donating to a moribund person.

If you want to make his last days on earth a little more pleaseant, that's cool - just don't think he will be cured.
