I live in the border with Mexico. I had an infection in a kidney, I was pissing blood and had a lot of pain. Went to the doctor to Mexico, spent three days in the hospital, tomography, ******** of medicines, pain killers, etc. No more than 800 dollars.

LOOP HOLE!
Medical bills are not financed , just pay 1$ to it every month and no one can come after you.

You're all welcome.

One time my sister got hit in the head with a rock and we had to call an ambulance. They only gave her a band aid and cleaned the wound, but they charged her $40 for the band aid, around $20 and some cents for the disinfectant, and $100 for getting from the hospital to our house

Hey, tittietwister

Hospitals set the prices high because when it comes to payment, they mostly deal with insurance companies, who will haggle the price down to a fraction of the up front bill. Uninsured people don't realize this and the hospitals aren't exactly going to screw themselves out of extra cash by voluntarily telling them that. If you contest the bill, and ask them about it, they openly admit to inflating the prices or, just adding ridiculous charges on top of it. If you pick through every item on the list, they'll most likely drop the bill to a much more reasonable cost, and add what they've lost to some other poor bastard's bill who most likely wont bother to contest it.

<<<<I'd seriously give those guys a call, you could save a small fortune.

Also, give this link a read; it saved my cousin a bundle after his car accident.

Right. You guys have good healthcare, sure, but those costs? I knew they were stupid, but not THAT stupid.
Over here in good old Blighty, we've got the NHS. It's not the best quality care in the world, sure, but it's free, it's pretty decent, and you WILL be treated no matter what. If you don't want to wait around however, there's the option of private healthcare. It's expensive, sure, but you get what you pay for.
I love being able to have that option. If I suddenly became seriously ill (moreso than what I have) I feel safe in the knowledge that I will be treated by kind, caring people and it won't cost me a penny.

i have had 4 spontaneous penumothoraxi (collapsed lungs) and had to be hospitalized for all of them. my longest stay was 2 weeks, my shortest was 3 days. i have a total of over $126,000 in hospital bills because i am 26, my job doesnt offer health insurance, and i cannot afford to buy my own. I absolutly cannot pay the health provider so they took me to court, needless to say i now have a 10% wage garnishment taken out of every single paycheck i get from now until i pay this total off... which by my calculations will be when im 108 years old. **** obama care and **** the greedy ass health care system in this ******** backwards ass greedy socialist cuntry these assholes call america

Anyone who thinks that healthcare is free anywhere is ******* retarded.

You're right, since everyone's tax money is what make universal health care happen. However, in my opinion, since these situations occur where poor and young people get sick and injured as well, the fact that they don't have to feel stressed out of their minds about costs for something as basic as health care, it's a huge advantage. It's a system where the wealthier automatically end up paying for those less fortunate so that they don't end up...ya know, dying and stuff.
I know the opposing side also has valid points. A lot of people don't want to spend their hard-earned cash on other people's health, and are fine with paying for their own health care, since they often do end up spending less money in the long run. So, as long as you actually save up your money and keep it in an account devoted to potential health care costs, this system works as well.
It's simply that I don't mind paying extra taxes so strangers, myself and the people in my life don't have to be buried in outrageous bills for something unavoidable.
