I checked out the link, and while I agree I think calling what dolphins do rape is a misnomer, but I think its alright to call it forced sexual coercion. You can check out the book _Beautiful Minds___ and see that the similarities exist between chimps and dolphin social behavior. If chimps and other great apes can be intimidated or beaten into copulation I think the same can be said for dolphins. Like what dolphin female probably wants to be separated from its group by a pack of males and then had sex with for hours on end?
Also, I think the point of these posts is to bring up the fact dolphins aren't the cute little peaceful animals a majority of people think they are. Male dolphins will move in packs and kill other male dolphins they find alone, have been shown to drown porpoises, and commit infanticide. And Orcas which belong to the same family as dolphins rather than whales play with their food like enormous sea cats. For all their higher order thinking it just shows that they're still pretty ****** up.
There's a dolphin that lives around the Island I call home that was dubbed "Rapey the Dolphin" and the tourists were warned not to swim around those parts. I hope you can guess why his name is that.
I took back the red thumb after reading up on this **** , but i still think dolphins can be kinda dicks. I saw one bite the head off of a fish and then sex its dead, fishy body.
And i don't know how you feel about that, but i think that's more than a little bit of aggressive sexual tension.
I've seen male dolphins use fish carcass to get themselves off. I'm pretty sure dolphins who are used to human presence might attempt to mate with one like say a dog would, consent or no. Some would call that rape, i would call it shortsightedness on the persons part. Besides who would not want to bang a dolphin
