This guy was so obese that make him american.
User avatar #203 to #15 - fappafappafap (12/07/2015) [-]
He was born in the USA, that makes him American regardless of how he looks or his ethnicity.

He actually actively pushed for Hawaiian independence though.
User avatar #159 to #15 - Kadzait (12/07/2015) [-]
No, I think it was the whole "He's Hawaiian" thing that made him American.

Good guess though!

Haha, thanks man. Don't let the cunts take you down with them.

Maybe that's because he was american? Last time I checked, Hawaii is one of the states belonging to the United States.

Yeah because every other country in this world is completely thin and beautiful.
#98 to #81 - mintyfreshmenthol (12/07/2015) [-]
well comparatively I would say yes when Americas fat rate is pushing 70%
User avatar #213 to #98 - acebuck (12/08/2015) [-]
That's overweight I believe. Meaning you can be 5'4" and have muscles like JOHN CENA and you are considered overweight

Want it that a couple years ago Mexico was named the fattest country in the world? www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/07/10/obesity-mexico-united-states-fattest-country_n_3571988.html

Found the butthurt American.
You want a low-salt burger? since you already seem to have brought some salt with yourself :^)
User avatar #132 to #125 - Lordskull (12/07/2015) [-]
Technically you are both correct. The studies you are linking to only show the obese percentages and the percentage he is talking about is a combination of overweight and obese
User avatar #135 to #132 - crazypat (12/07/2015) [-]
Yeah, but dummy here thinks that overweight = obese, overweight means they are not within a good margin of weight, but they aren't gonna have diabetes or heart disease if they watch there weight.

The most determining factor seems to be physical activity though: www.cancer.gov/news-events/press-releases/2012/PhysicalActivityLifeExpectancy
Guideline is aerobic physical activity for 2.5 hours at moderate intensity or 1.25 hours at vigorous intensity, which I think is really low and should be compared to something like 1hr/day.
It's interesting though that, according to this study, it's worse to be completely inactive and skinny than to be a whale that regularly goes swimming. And even though one might be sceptical to statistical medical studies, this one had access to data from more than 650 000 adults, which definitely gives some validity to the figure below.

thanks for the read, interesting information as an inactive skinny person

Can I get a a reliable source on that? I find it hard to believe that 70% are overweight.
User avatar #129 to #123 - crazypat (12/07/2015) [-]
And im talking about obesity, not overweight even though having an overweight population is bad it isn't the ******* common thought that we ahve a 70% "obesity rate"
User avatar #141 to #129 - babyanalraper (12/07/2015) [-]
If anyone makes a dubious claim you can direct them to this www.who.int/nmh/publications/ncd-status-report-2014/en/ (downloadable pdf). BMI starts at page 200. The average BMI of the inhabitants of Cook Islands is 32 kg/m^2. Over 30 BMI and someone is considered obese...
#182 to #141 - anon (12/07/2015) [-]
You can also Google BMI and find out that it is unreliable to determine who is overweight. www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=BMI+reliable
#198 to #182 - anon (12/07/2015) [-]
for the average person its not. considering all thing including lifestyle near all people will not be ripped at 30bmi., that's ******* common knowledge, if you think otherwise my hat's off to you for the clear denial of truth

#199 to #198 - anon (12/07/2015) [-]
Oh, the denial of truth? A way to measure someone's body size and stature invented by a mathematician, sociologist, statistician and astronomer. Out of all of those there is not the one meaningful entry to declare someone actually being able to declare someone's physical body - a freaking medical doctor.

What's the average person to you? On average, we are taller than the generation from 100 years ago when BMI was invented - by again - a non-medical individual in an age when medicine was still half ******** and half sorcery.

So you are a ******* moron for thinking BMI is "truth." Idiot.

User avatar #127 to #123 - crazypat (12/07/2015) [-]
it's actually between 34% and 36%
User avatar #133 to #127 - babyanalraper (12/07/2015) [-]
For obese yes, but for overweight it's 68.5. I'm just saying that his chart stating 74% wasn't too far off if one's measuring overweight.

I don't like the BMI system very much though, as it's flawed for taller people imo and doesn't take muscle mass into account. But it's cheap and gives an idea of the general state of health. Countries like Japan, for instance, have a much lower rate of obesity and overweight, and its inhabitants are also generally more healthy (physically).

If people actually claim that the obesity rate is 70% though, then that's absolutely hilarious.
