Frodo was portrayed as rather weak (if you forget that he's bearing the weight of an ancient artifact basically imbued with half of Satan's soul that not only has a will of its own but also constantly plots to kill Frodo so it can pass into other hands), but he's a lot more understandable in the book. Samwise is the **** , though.

Book: Frodo is pretty ok, sam is his badass bro who gets him through tough ****
Movie: Frodo is useless sack **** , Sam is still awesome, but now the pair are gay lovers.

I've always felt like Sam was the real main character of the entire trilogy.

I admit, thats what i did when i read the book.

I already know how frodo does his thing.

they walk/climb over hard terrain, run out of food, put up with/aggrivate golum, ect.

Frankly, it's depressing to read, and boring to boot.

To be fair, if you really compare Frodo's journey to Bilbo's, Frodo's whole thing really did suck. Bilbo went on an ADVENTURE! Frodo got caught up in a bunch of ******** . Bilbo got a bunch of new friends, a magic ring, a cool sword, and gold! Frodo got his finger bit off and a bunch of people died. There was also a war.

Although I disagree with what you said... frodo was kind of a pussy. Compared though, Bilbo is awesome.

I don't just watch LotR for the action scenes. More for the story and a bit for the armors, clothing, the details, that kinda stuff.
