Last night, after I thought all of the trick or treaters were
gone, a boy about 12 years old came to my house.
He was dressed in all red. Instead of saying 'trick or treat', he
said Trn your period, sorry I' m late.
He got the rest of my candy, and he restored all of my faith
in his generation.

faith restored because a kid had a funny costume. That's pretty petty. Just sayin.

Okay, am I the only one who thinks this "faith in humanity restored" crap is unbelievable?

I mean, do we need tiny little things to keep us from falling in a depressed state? Do people seriously need these things? Are their lives just depressing and boring.
Come on, life is epic. My faith is always high, because I like life and realize that with all the bad things, there are awesome things.

If someone cheats on someone, screw them.
If the tell their partner, good for them.
If 100 hospitals are built in a developing country,
If 2,000 people die, terrible.

Just take it as it goes.

Well.. A tad different, but if I'm pissed or upset, I find something good to focus on. Even if it is a tiny good thing, i.e. how pretty the sky is, I can use it to change my mood. I'm not depressed or emo or anything; I just don't like being in a **** mood because I find that if I'm in a good one, I can be more productive and have a better day in general. I can literally decide to be in a good mood/have a good day.

Granted, it took me all 23 years to learn to do it, but I find it's a great tool to have.

Not being rude here, but the past said faith in GENERATION restored. Also, I don't think the "faith in humanity restored" thing is meant to be taken literally, I think it's just an exaggeration meant to show how little things can improve your mood/day.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong that things are this way, but the truth is most people connect more easily to small, more emotional actions than numbers. Picturing a hundred hospitals is a little difficult, and I don't think there is anyone that can really accurately envision 2,000 people in their head. Big numbers scare most.

That's why when there's a news story like "Little girl cured from horrible disease!" it receives more attention than "10,000 saved last month by doctors using xyz technology". It's also why "this little boy was run over!" gets more attention than "57 dead over the last week in driving-related accidents". That's why people attach so much value to tiny little things, its easier for them to relate to.

As far as life being epic though, I agree. It's tough, sure, but there is literally nothing better than being alive, at least as far as we know.
