Why is it not ok for someone who has received an extensive NICS background check and paid money for training to conceal a firearm in your place of business? I understand it is their right to make such a restriction, but what is so threatening about such a person?

If someone had a gun, and had the intention of doing harm to the people inside the "gameroom", what is this paper sign going to do to stop them?

Here's a quick statistic on licensed concealed carry in Florida.. From the period of July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014, the state of Florida issued 177,126 new licenses and renewed 2,228 licenses. Out of all those licenses, only 1,144 were revoked during that same period of time. That means that only about 0.6% of concealed carry permit holders did something that caused them to lose their license, not even necessarily a violent crime.

So tell me again: Why are you so scared of licensed concealed carry holders?

Relevant article I stumbled across this week. A psychiatrist doctor carried his ccw in the office, even though they had a similar sign/policy of not allowing guns in their building except by on duty policeman

A mentally unstable patient was in, and after a an argument with a caseworker, shot the caseworker dead. Other people called 911, the doctor drew his gun and fired. The man is currently in critical condition

Resounding opinion is the Doc saved many lives, as the police would have taken approximately 3 minutes to arrive, and there would have been nothing else stopping the original shooter from shooting anyone in the lobby or other rooms.

BTW That sign means nothing to anyone with a CHL (At least in Texas).

<< Has to be this sign. 1 inch block letters, English and Spanish

All these people mistaking 'please don't carry guns in here' for 'because we don't want customers carrying guns means that we're not going to either'.

C'mon. This is basic security guys. Customers/visitors aren't allowed to carry guns because there's a 'higher likelihood' of robbery if they are.

Doesn't mean the keeper of the store or the staff don't have a means to defend themselves in the back room or under the counter.

Whatever, I would CC in this store regardless. the worst thing that could happen in my state is I would be trespassed from the premises if my firearm were to be somehow discovered and i refused to leave.

I am sorry but my personal safety is more valuable then your petty "muh feelz"

But where do you draw the line between 'personal safety' and 'paranoid schizophrenic'? posting anon because invadable"hurr durr freedom"

I know people will rage at me for this because of robberies and what not but.. honestly I would feel more safe if most people around me were not carrying something around that could kill me.I really don't trust anyone.

sorry but unless they prove to me that they are a good person, I would never trust them

Maybe we could have better security is certain public places. I don't know. But trusting just anyone with a weapon is sketchy to me.

Keeping a gun at home is fine but not in public

I do love all the comments replying to people saying that people shouldn't be walking around with a loaded weapon saying "You gonna ban anything that can hurt you"

like, no retards that's impossible

but a gun's only function is to kill and seriously injure. You guys have been outside right? Well some of you at least have been. Most people are idiots, short tempered idiots at that hell no do I want them carrying a weapon

over here in england it's illegal to carry a weapon. Including knives and stuff like that

and guess what. we have almost no gun crime here yes there is still gun crime but it is nowhere near as much as the US has

inb4 "muh freedoms"

That store seems to be alienating 50% of its customers. Must be owned by Seth McFarlane.

Far less than fifty percent of people think that going everywhere with a gun is a good idea. Far more than fifty percent of people feel far safer when there are no guns around than when there are guns around.

I dont know about other state laws, but In Kentucky the only place you can't legally pack a gun is into schools or courthouses. Business owners have the right to prohibit firearms in their business, but all they can do is ask you to leave or put it in your car, there is nothing you can be charged with legally except maybe trespassing if you refuse to leave.
They can NOT, however, prevent you from keeping one in your car, even if you're an employee where employees cant have a weapon on the property.

Can we stop arguing about guns and address the fact that the poster says "some sort of Nintendo"?

Who wrote this, my Grandma?

I think it would be better if everyone who is capable of handling a gun well had one on them when they were out. You're far less likely to attack people if everyone in the room has a gun.

As a pro-gunner myself I would totally understand a sign saying
"While we respect your right to bear arms we ask that you not open carry in StoreX"

But these signs saying 'please no guns' only make it laughable to know that their businesses then become targets(see Target, Starbucks, Sonic, etc.) for robbery. The only thing that stops me from just smiling about the stupidity is knowing that people have and will continue to be hurt by these policies saying "Law-abiding citizens, we don't want you here unless you stop doing the thing you are legally allowed to do".

While I get not wanting Bubba and company to come in waving their rifles every which way, concealed carry is another thing altogether. Outright banning all weapons just reinforces an irrational view of carriers as homicidal boogeymen. Fortunately, most of the country is able to maintain a mature perspective on firearms.
