I've never seen that ugly faced b**** before, but I already hate her, like all the people who can't handle the truth, but are afraid of even listening to the facts.

Guns don't belong on college campuses because dorms are very tightly packed areas full of drunk people and guns and booze don't mix.

But thinking having a gun free area makes you safer from school shootings is pants on head retarded.

User avatar #62 to #8 - theruinedsage (01/09/2016) [-]
Gun free zones mean nothing unless they are national.
User avatar #9 to #8 - lean ONLINE (01/08/2016) [-]
Gun safes in dorm rooms. Zero tolerance for handling guns while under the influence.
User avatar #10 to #9 - traelos (01/08/2016) [-]
Because dorms are very well known for having their rules enforced.
User avatar #11 to #10 - lean ONLINE (01/08/2016) [-]
so you are saying guns should be banned because people don't follow the rules?
Apply that to driving, or drinking, or constructing buildings.
"we shouldn't make any more buildings because some contractors don't follow the rules"
It doesn't really make sense in that context either. For the record, many schools already allow guns in dorms for the purposes of cleaning etc, especially in parts of the country where many people hunt. I kept my duck hunting shotgun locked in my trunk at all times on campus, and obtained permission to bring it in to my room for cleaning. After I was done, I had to bring it directly back to my car. I did get some funny looks walking into the dorm with a gun case on my shoulder.
User avatar #12 to #11 - traelos (01/08/2016) [-]
What I'm saying is that drunken college students are idiots and I don't trust them.

Like **** , are you honestly telling me you think college students should have their funs in their rooms?
User avatar #13 to #12 - lean ONLINE (01/08/2016) [-]
Absolutely. Are you telling me you are against them smoking pot and drinking in their own rooms? The state trusts them to safely and responsibly carry guns for hunting, or CCW if over 21. You think that location makes a difference on that judgement? It's dangerous in the dorm room but not in the field? Why do we send college age kids to war in strange countries if the guns are dangerous? Do we only want them to protect themselves when the government sanctions it?
User avatar #56 to #13 - admiralen ONLINE (01/09/2016) [-]
Which place do you think will have more guns, a place where they are allowed or a place where they arent?
Some people are gonna break the rules, but in general you will lower the risk of a dude on a bad acid trip shooting his roommate cause he thought he was an alien
User avatar #14 to #13 - traelos (01/08/2016) [-]
They can smoke and drink, or they can operate firearms. Just not both at the same time.

I absolutely think environment makes a difference in their judgement. If you think college students in dorms are making smart life choices you are incredibly naive.

It's dangerous in a dorm but not in the field because kids are ******* drunk in dorms, this **** isn't complicated.

Like I don't know what you think I'm about, I'm all for funs and I'm all for the whole 'shall not be infringed' part of the Constitution, but I'm also all for treating college students like idiots until at least their junior year, because they are.
User avatar #63 to #13 - thesecretbear ONLINE (01/09/2016) [-]

User avatar #22 to #8 - bandgeekster (01/09/2016) [-]
I absolutely agree. Students shouldn't have guns. Teachers though? Teachers should have guns. Your point is absolutely valid. I wouldn't have trusted myself around firearms most of my years in college. But these massacres are happening in the middle of the day. When teachers are around. Who tend to be decidedly more sober than the average college student.
#43 to #8 - kulamia (01/09/2016) [-]
Dorms/campuses. Here in Texas if someone wants to carry a firearm they must have a License to Carry(formerly Concealed Handgun License) and pass a thorough background check in order to do so.

Saying "I dont think people who go through a vetted legal process to carry a weapon in an otherwise vulnerable area" just doesnt add up when talking about people committing crimes utilizing firearms.
www.factcheck.org/2015/10/the-oregon-shooting-and-gun-free-zones/
^See, Trump's remarks on Oregon shooting. Students allowed to CONCEALED CARRY but not allowed legal firearms in dorms. Result: Unless some otherwise law-abiding citizen was breaking the law by carrying, they had to wait for the police. "When second count, the police are only minutes away"
User avatar #65 to #43 - traelos (01/09/2016) [-]
>CCW
>Vetted
You mean a farmer looking for cash let them go plinking on his ranch for 15 minutes?

And more importantly
>Tightly packed drunk people

Because it's worth having a bunch of meat headed business majors shooting each other because BRO YOU BUMPED INTO MY GIRL rather than the literally 1 in a million chance of a school shooting happening.

Like **** guy, use your ******* head.
#66 to #65 - kulamia (01/09/2016) [-]
In the Republic State of Texas it is a lengthy and thorough process. A friend just took his class and his waiting period is looking like 4 weeks.

Also it is ILLEGAL to be inebriated in any way while carrying. LAW ABIDING citizens tend to not open themselves to civil suits and legal action.
User avatar #67 to #66 - traelos (01/09/2016) [-]
In the Fascist State of Connecticut it's a longer and more convoluted thorough process. I just took my class and after the 6-8 weeks to get my temp permit in the mail, I took it to the police station and got a different temp permit. Then earlier this week, I brought it to the office in Middletown to get the full permit, but I forgot one piece of paperwork so I had to mail that in and now they're mailing me my permit which should arrive any day now.

A guy from work taught the class, and we actually went over the course material because he happens to have a passion for teaching and a lot of the people in the class had never used a gun before and actually needed to learn how.

But in reality at least half of the people taking the NRA basic pistol safety class are going out to some random farmers ranch, where he has them put 3 rounds through a .22 into some cans and then signs a piece of paper for them.

And again, if you think college students are LAW ABIDING citizens and not ******* retards, you're woefully naive.

Gun free zone laws are really just feel good laws put in place by people that want to put a bandage on internal bleeding, it might look like they are doing something but its not really stopping **** . The problem here in america is everyone is so up their ass with guns that its not funny, every act of violence with a gun end up being a 'problem with guns'. I'm pretty damn sure that if you take away guns those sort of people that are willing to kill will still exist, and we really need to find out why they exist and deal with the issue(s) directly, rather than banning one of the tools they use and putting on a false air of safety.
Id also like to point out that back in the day there were schools with gun club and classes on gun safety, kids would bring their guns to school after going hunting, and there were hardly any problems, sure there might have been a few but no where the level there has been since the whole 'gun free zone' and while correlation is not causation its still something to ponder

This should have happened years ago.
There are way too many conflicting cultures in the USA. They should just split it up in west coast (california), midwest, eastcoast, south (texas), probably something else, alaska and hawaii, even though those last two most likely won't sustain on their own.

I grew up in a 300 student school (K-12, only 300 students) and I remember this one time some idiot edgelord **** pulled a knife on someone else in the halls saying **** like "Do you think I won't cut you right here?!" and the sort. I'd say a good 5 people all reached for their pockets (halls weren't too crowded, everyone was already in their rooms waiting for classes to start) and this one meaty ************ of a nord just slammed the edgelord into a locker. Edgelord dropped the knife in the process and just started crying like a total faggot until a teacher came up and walked edgelord to the principals office with the nord walking next to him casually telling what happened. Moral of the story: people need to stop being so "Oh noes call this guy or that guy to stop the bad man" and be more " **** your **** if you wanna tango let's ******* go m8 I'll rek ya cunt."
TL;DR: Protect yourself and others in your immediate area. Don't be a pussy and rely on someone 15 minutes away to save you from something happening right now.

America is a place filled with stupid ******* mongrels bro. They don't understand correlation and causation, much less have the brain ability to comprehend what the difference between those two things are. Every system is a ****** up backward mess with "logic" that contradicts itself backing it up. From the judicial system to finance, to education, to big business. Every single thing is a backwards ****** up mess because its run by humans. The human race is doomed, because idiots create other idiots mostly of the time accidentally. Idiots raise idiots, and idiots teach idiots, idiots are in charge of other idiots. Its ******* gross.
#3 to #1 - anon (01/08/2016) [-]
The biggest ******* mess I find in America is the double ******* standards everywhere. Guns are bad but guns are good to protect us, killing is bad unless its in a way, or an accident then its just an evil that has to exist. In the usa we run off the Justice system which is so ******* flawed because all it does is contradict itself. You can get high of prescription drugs if they are given to you by some quack. Remember SHAQ got a doctorate in medicine, anyone ******* can. You can drink yourself to death and you can give yourself all the cancer you want but you can't do a lil coke or have the devils lettuce because heaven forbid those things will turn good innocent people in heathens right? BECAUSE ******* PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND that people who make ****** life decisions and are heathens or **** ups or morons and degenerates turn to quick fixes like drugs because they have nothing else. Successful people do drugs, unsuccessful people do drugs, either way its for enjoyment. Yeah you can get addicted, but you can get addicted to ANYTHING. And addiction is the problem Americas politicians should address more so than anything, its addiction and public health both mental and physical. Not the things that people misuse or abuse that are the problem. Things, objects, etc are never problems. Its only the ******* people man. Its always people. I ******* hate America so much because so many people here just wallow and bask in it.
User avatar #6 to #1 - sircool (01/08/2016) [-]
thing is, majority of gun related deaths are suicides. the violent crime/murder stats have been decreasing in the last few decades too, but no one brings up those numbers. They keep shouting "This thousand died, this ten thousand died" when that's a drop in the bucket if not less than the total population in america which is in the goddamn 300 million's.

Gun free zones on campus and whatever wouldn't protect students from muderers, but they would protect students from careless idiots who risk harming someone while showing off how cool they are for having a gun.

I'm not saying there's a lot of these people, but the more likely a person is to have a gun, the more likely a moron is to have one as well.
#18 to #17 - dislikinator ONLINE (01/09/2016) [-]
Completely gun-free zones shouldn't be in a country like the USA. There must be people able to stop gunning rampagers, but students, teachers, janitors and other people there whose job isn't to ensure the safety should not have guns on them in the building.
User avatar #23 to #17 - SteyrAUG (01/09/2016) [-]
Idaho passed a law allowing weapons on college campuses a couple years ago. It permits retired law enforcement officers and those people holding the state's enhanced concealed-carry permit to bring firearms to campus, but bans weapons in dormitories and buildings that can hold more than 1,000 people, such as sports or concert venues.

So it's not like they're just going "HEY EVERYONE HERE'S A MACHINE PISTOL HAVE A BLAST!"
User avatar #25 to #17 - ironthrush (01/09/2016) [-]
Man I agree with you to a point but do you SINCERELY think that a moron is something we need walking around nowadays? And before your "other innocent people will get hurt" thing, other innocent people should know not to be around a moron with a gun. People are trying so hard to be proactive that they're completely disregarding reaction. Someone that's smart isn't going to be around their buddy that's blitzed with a shotgun, we don't need to remove the shotgun we need to let people either learn their lessons or get hurt.
#20 to #17 - anon (01/09/2016) [-]
in places that allow guns on campus, it's for people with concealed carry permit
in order to get a concealed carry permit, you have to demonstrate that you're not an idiot
So only people who aren't idiots would be allowed to have guns

so it being to protect people from careless idiots doesn't hold up to scrutiny

I'm just sad that I live in a country where (in the eyes of mainstream corporate media) one half of it thinks everyone with a gun is a utopia granted by god, and the other half believes guns to be evil nasty little things who should all be banned and destroyed.

The truth that I think all sensible and logical people believe are that Guns are not inherently evil, but they aren't made with any reason except to kill. I also think that the vast majority of people agree to background checks, mental health checks, and maybe even some slight amount of training. While open carrying is allowed in some places, if you feel the need to go to Walmart with an AR-15 strapped to your back to flex your constitutional ego, you need help. And lastly myself, a pretty liberal person, and a good amount of people I also believe disagree with the gun-free zone logic. Only places that need to be Gun free are public venues like concerts, sports events, etc. because alcohol and firearms don't mix.
