A trick i was taught thats not really accurate but its close enough is to get from C to F you double it and add 30. to go the other way you take away 30 and half it obviously. Its not good for big numbers but its good enough for the weather

We have our own reasonable methods of measurement. 1 yard to 3 feet 1 foot to 12 inches 1 inch to 2 half inches and so on. Totally makes sense that +++++++ is our smallest unit of measurement and that we divide it by 2 every time we want it to get smaller.
