I'm pretty sure that most guys have a thing for hot blonde white woman. But who is Stacey gonna date? Rich good looking college educated Chad, or subway assistant manager Daquan. Bertha on the other hand doesn't get any attention from Chad or his friends. They seem disgusted by her. But Daquan and his crew treat Bertha like how she imagines Stacey gets treated and she loves it. Most fat women are very stable and are generally a bit more jolly when they find someone interested in them. We see that and we like it. It's the same when asking why do some girls like fat guys. Only gripe i got with it is that the showrunner quit halfway through, and you can somewhat feel the drop in continuity. It's like the show had a clear idea of where it wanted to go, but then they kind of had to figure it out again. Watch it, then watch the new show Jessica Jones and you can see the difference. It had great fightscenes though, and the whole thing with the russians is so awesome
