'Grinder Gear' --- Ever heard of 'Harmonic Drive'? Sorry to say, but thats not new. It's pretty cool though.

I think the difference is that the harmonic drive uses a flexible belt, while the grinder gears use a solid one, I agree with you entirely though. same goes with you ieatpaste

this is called a harmonic drive/ harmonic reducer. I maintain a machine that uses one. the machine bends heavy wire into various shapes. the machine is similare to the one in the picture just made for much heavier wire.

It's just a type of bearingless (i.e. retarded) internal planetary gearing. Like on a wankel engine.
