Good news for Deus Ex fans

Shutting down "Augment Your Preformer"
FETISH
Hi everyone! At both Square End: and , we' Been listening to everything you'
had to say about the Augment Your Preformer program. When it was turst conceived, we wanted
the program to give you more choice about what you received In terms of preformer incentives -
because we' seen in the past that when we choose those packages ourselves, and split them
across regions, it has caused frustration- we quickly noticed that this approach created even
more frustration than before, resulting In a resounding amount of negative feedback.
WE' spent a lot or tlmb reading through all of Ctm' , working tta understand HEW we
can try to make things right tor YOU. Atter much thought and reflection, we decided to close
the , and HERE all ytte content tta artyom" who pre-
ort" yrs Deus Er. Marthena or " a Day 1 ' the llame Additionally,
the release date will HO longer Be changed in accordance with preformer gumtrees, and everyone
will gain access tta the game on Februrary 23rd, 2016.
Your feedback and input is of the utmost importance to us" as it' s your loyalty and passion for
our franchises that gives us the opportunity to continue providing you with great gaming
experiences.
To our faithful fans who' already : we will be ta king care of everything necessary
to ensure that all of the changes to the program will be automatically applied to your purchase.
Meanwhile, we' d like to thank everybody for their feedback - we know this wouldn' t have
happened with a game that nobody cared about, and we' re just focusing now on delivering a
game that lives up to your hopes and expectations.

Everyone bitches about the problem existing in the first place, increasing the chances that companies won't fix problems in the future.

Classic case of "We'll just do a ****** thing to then ****** the thing and look like heroes to skyrocket our sales"

User avatar #25 to #6 - grammarofficer (10/06/2015) [-]
It's still gonna be a preorder/special edition only. So it is a slightly less ****** thing instead of the really ****** thing.

The classic "New Coke" strategy, works every time form Coca-Cola to making a minor design change to your website.

Meh
I mean, everyone makes mistakes. The way I see it, if they correct it, best to let it go. Otherwise, what's the point of them correcting the mistake, if you're just going to demonize them regardless of whether they correct it or not? Now, I'd certainly let that mistake inform my future purchases from them, but to continue to assume the worst even after they try to correct their mistakes just seems petty.

wait
there was a release date thing going on depending on the amount of pre-orders? now that's just bad marketing
User avatar #16 to #5 - duthar ONLINE (10/06/2015) [-]
I believe it was "if we get one million pre-orders, the release date will be pushed back 3 days" or something along those lines. I just recall that it needed the most amount of pre-orders, and was only a couple days early.
#4 - bluemagebrilly ONLINE (10/05/2015) [-]
I'm not quite sure I understand what is being said.

Basically, there's no pre-order bonuses that are locked to regions and now everyone gets the same stuff? For that game specifically, at least.
#10 to #4 - WiggsMaGee ONLINE (10/06/2015) [-]
the Deus Ex pre-order model was essentially a tiered system, with new tiers depending on how many people collectivly pre-ordered

Main issues that arose were that some items were region locked
And the big one was that in each tier of pre-order content, you could only pick one item of each tier
e.g. tier 1, pick one of 3 pre-order in-game weapon/armor loadouts
tier 2, pick an exlclusive mission or in-game currency etc etc...

This effectively meant that unless you pre-ordered 3 different copies of the game, there was no way you could actually experience the entire product, even if you have paid for it
#15 to #10 - bluemagebrilly ONLINE (10/06/2015) [-]
Ahh, I see. It's nice that they listened to the complaints, then.

Thanks for the clarification.
#9 - justtocomment (10/06/2015) [-]
Wait, so they made an offer where you can pick your own preorder package, and that was a bad thing?
#11 to #9 - Moosoulja (10/06/2015) [-]
Not the package, the content available in the game for which edition you pre-order so half or more of the bonuses would be locked unless you ordered another copy of the game and chose those bonuses. It was a really ******* ****** think to do as well as they forced lockouts on the amount of preoreders required to unlock "bonus" content. So if x number of people didn't preorder then nobody would get the bonuses that they already created for the game.
#12 to #11 - justtocomment (10/06/2015) [-]
The first part sounds awesome though!
The bit about minimum lockouts though.... That's a dick move.
#13 to #12 - Moosoulja (10/06/2015) [-]
It's awesome that you only get half of the content preorder bonuses available in the game unless you buy two copies....? All that does it encourage piracy.
#14 to #13 - justtocomment (10/06/2015) [-]
No, it's awesome that you get a partially unique game of your choosing. It's awesome that if one preorder doesn't suit you, another might.
And do you really think the other content wouldn't be available as DLC within the first year?
#18 - anon (10/06/2015) [-]
And now there's no chance of the game coming out 4 days early. Good job. You won. Goddamn autistic retards.
#33 to #18 - improbablyyourdad ONLINE (10/06/2015) [-]
Now there isn't blocked content for no reason, so yeah, good job guys.

User avatar #17 - tittylovin (10/06/2015) [-]
Pre-order incentives are still cancer. You're essentially betting your money on whether a game is **** or not, but instead of win or lose it's lose or break even. Not worth it.
User avatar #40 to #17 - hanabro (10/06/2015) [-]
I don't know, I've never been burned on pre-ordering or kickstarter investments because I'm not an idiot with my money, and know what games I'll like, so it's always been a win for me, every time.

To use your gambling metaphor, I'm a professional gambler who knows the odds are stacked against me, and still manages to walk away with a profit, because I know how to play the game.
User avatar #21 - zomaru ONLINE (10/06/2015) [-]
There is nothing wrong with Pre-order extras in the form of cosmetics, or just nice looking redskins of weapons that do slightly better then your base **** . But Pre-order **** should never be usable at all in any late game.
#20 - anon (10/06/2015) [-]
Preordering should become a thing everywhere, together with DLC and exclusives.

Imagine paying for a car, for example, before it has even been built.
And you pay extra to have features on it like AC and cruise-control.
Limited production models (the R, RS, Gran Turismo types) will be the exclusives.

Oh nvm we obviously don't care about preorders, only enraged facepubes.
User avatar #35 to #20 - mrlester (10/06/2015) [-]
With cars you know what you are getting. With games you dont know if you gonna get a pile of **** or not.
#3 - anon (10/05/2015) [-]
Man, games has been ruined by those who play it.
Communities are **** no matter how much you butter it up, even this one
User avatar #37 - dingdongz (10/06/2015) [-]
saved unexpectedly at the last moment! whats that called again?
User avatar #32 - megamolester (10/06/2015) [-]
Good, good! Someone finaly listened. And to all you hatemongers who say that they shouldn't have done it in the first place, well... the whole deal with pre-ordering games only got this big because the consumers bought it. Might as well start there with your tangents.
User avatar #28 - brackgrapple (10/06/2015) [-]
Refund game because **** it ill just get collectors edtion when its cheap, 1 week later they pull this after i already spent the refund money <:s feels bad man
User avatar #27 - leifbunny (10/06/2015) [-]
Companies can sell their product however they want to. Don't like it? Don't buy it.

I've stopped calling myself a gamer because every time I see one these days it seems like it's all they care about. It's gotten pathetic! Oh boo hoo.... a company is exercising their right to sell something at the value they think it's worth... I have to either accept that or cry about it online oooooh....!" If you can't afford the hobby, then that's that. Do something else, jesus christ.
User avatar #31 to #27 - improbablyyourdad ONLINE (10/06/2015) [-]
It's our job as consumers to let them know what we don't like and want, dick head.
I hope you aren't defending this retarded **** they tried to pull.
User avatar #41 to #31 - leifbunny (10/06/2015) [-]
There's a difference between giving feedback to your preferred company and thinking you need a movement.
