What if Pepsi and Coke switched recipes for a year... Then switched back. The world would be plunged into chaos.

There was a classic study done in the 80's in which people taste tested Coke and Pepsi. Pepsi was preferred almost 9/10 times, because it is sweeter. Cokes' brand loyalty is through the roof! Basically people pick a side and stick to it, but when we don't know which is which we pick the sweeter drink.

tl;dr Pepsi tastes better, but isn't necessarily "better"

In his book, Blink, author Malcolm Gladwell presents evidence that suggests Pepsi's success over Coca-Cola in the "Pepsi Challenge" is a result of the flawed nature of the "sip test" method. His research shows that tasters will generally prefer the sweeter of two beverages based on a single sip, even if they prefer a less sweet beverage over the course of an entire can.

I like coke in that it's not that sweet. It's about taste man, sweet doesn't necessarily mean better.

I dunno man, I feel that for something as controversial as this pepsi vs coke debate you're gonna need to get some more recent sources to have any real impact

Yes i'm aware. I will look, but it was in my marketing textbook and referenced by both professors who work for the university. I realize that was not a real source and this is the internet, but trust me. lol (I will look though)

Scientists actually (and I'm serious here, although I can not provide a source). When they knew what they were drinking, most people preferred Coke. However when they weren't aware what they were drinking, most people preferred Pepsi.

Pepsi always tasted sweeter to me. I would notice, but I would just try pepsi to see if it tasted like coke, and then buy pepsi until it switched back. Would just make pepsi money off me instead of coke.
