Can your NES play movies and do all that other unneeded fancy **** that a ps3 can? No, that's probably why it's a lot easier to fix.

I love how misuse gives the correct answer to why the current gen consoles are a lot harder to fix than the NES but because nintendo fanboys are among the most fragile ego'd people on the internet they instantly assume someone is bashing nintendo. Good job guys, good job.

Also fanboy does not mean somebody who is simply a fan, it means an obsessive fan prone to enraging

Let me explain. I have a standing, that I will not accept thumbs given out of ignorance, rather than mistakes made on my part. That is the reason I deleted it, so I would not have to get undeserved thumbs. It is not my mistake people are so ignorant of the difference between trolls and posting your opinion. And I will not "suffer" for something I did no wrong in.

To clarify (long text): if you desire me to not invoke your console life, I will have to let you know that many great games have been dumbed down for consoles, destroying the lifeblood and quality of the previous generations of video games for the most part. Think about it. Oblivion became Skyrim, most FPSes became CoD knock-offs, GTA is somehow popular, and more. Meanwhile, PC exclusive titles have been great: Minecraft, SimCity 4, Anno, Planetside 2, and many more. I have been aboard the game train for a long time, and I have seen the games gradually degrade down in quality as the game market shifted to the console dominance we currently experience. And it affects me too, look at the latest piece of crap released under the SimCity brand name. As PC gaming, where most quality games can exist in the powerful environments of a gaming PC, becomes more of a niche due to everybody taking consoles above PC one way or another, the casual nature of console gaming has forced the industry to rethink their business models into creating games serving more and more casual demographics, leaving me, and many others, lacking quality games more than before. And as a result, I am trying, as much as I can, to invoke a more diverse and improved video game library to choose from, rather than the constant **** the console industry, where all game money is going to, leaves us PC gamers with. Explain to me why you'd choose a Console over PC, please! I beg to understand why I have to live with the crap that is console games.

Part of putting your opinion out there is being able to accept disagreement and criticism if people disagree or you are too abrasive. Red thumbs are part of that. Not taking red thumbs is not standing by your opinion. It's cowardice. If you're genuinely not a troll, then understand that part of diversifying video games is there being a console market. There are console exclusives, there are PC exclusives, there are services that are only available on PC or certain consoles, some people buy both, some don't want to play games with a mouse and keyboard, etc. If that competition and another market did not exist, the industry would suffer monetarily. Your supposed "decline in quality" is somebody else's vast improvement. You say games are degrading, and yet games are becoming narratively stronger than ever before, with what used to be thousands of lines of dialogue becoming millions, character models becoming more expressive, and many gaming companies requiring English degrees for their writing team positions. I would argue that without the PC market and console market pinballing off of and competing with one another, we would not have seen either advance so quickly in graphical technology, artistry, and narrative complexity.

Yes, but disagreement out of ignorance I do not value as such. That is where I draw the line.

Maybe, but haven't you noticed the better quality games (Bioshock Infintite, the Last of Us, etc) having come out last summer, when it became apparent, with the Xbone and the PS4 that the next console generation would not be as dominant as before? I have seen a trend, that as PC gaming becomes more dominant, quality of games rises more than with a console dominance.

Please understand that, when I said quality was degrading, I meant the growth in quality decreased. Quality in games has only ever increased, I know. But there is an obvious correlation between console dominance and slower growth in quality games. And I find that a pity.

Furthermore, the definition of quality is somewhat subjective. Narrative and gameplay play some parts, but factors such as privacy, price, DLC, etc... has mostly decreased as companies applied the console standards to PC, to which I suffer.

It's not disagreement out of ignorance. It's disagreement out of appreciating both consoles or PC, just preferring consoles, or the fact that your original comment was stated as snidely as possible. Man up and take your thumbs if you're going to be a dick.

I can't say I have seen the same trend. Both markets have co-existed for decades now, and after the original Xbox came out and consoles started using basically the same hardware as a PC, they have grown together immensely. Not to diminish your opinion, but it seems as if your need to be a victimized pure-PC gamer is clouding your judgement and allowing you to see patterns that simply are not there.

I **** you not; I'm on my 5th Xbox 360. (I've only paid for 1 though)
1st: Got for Christmas 2007. Red rings. Repaired. Craps out again. Out of warranty.
2nd: Buy a new one with Gamestop warranty. Craps out in a month.
3rd: Gamestop replaces it. Craps out in a week.
4th: Gamestop replaces it. Craps out again. Out of warranty.
5th: Rich friend's Xbox red rings. He buys a new one because he doesn't want to wait a month for repairs. He gives me the broken one and I get it repaired. That one's lasted lasted 2 years so I think I'm in the clear.

I don't know if I got like 12 **** hands in a row, but from what I've seen the Xbox is hands down the worst build console ever made. I honestly suspect they're made to break (God knows their mics are). Gamestop absolutely horrible with consoles too. When you have a warranty with them they replace your xbox with a "refurbished" one. They literally keep them in a pile in the back room collecting dust. I was actually given one replacement that stopped working the same night I got it. (I didn't count that on the list)

Maybe you shouldn't treat your stuff like that. I had one xbox that lasted a year before it got red ringed so i sent it in and got another one back for free.
It's been about 4 years since then with absolutely no problems. I've had to replace my 20 dollar mic twice as well.

My PS3s were both bricked within the first few months(stopped on startup screen, wouldn't start) though. I can safely say it was because i didn't care for it because it has ****** multiplayer compared to xbox, although it does have blu-ray which i miss.
Also it takes 2 weeks for repairs on the xbox red rings..

I've had an xbox 360 since 2007. It broke around a year or two ago (maybe one and a half) but as I played much on it, I still made sure I did my finest to treat it as the fragile system as it is. We had a 2006 version PS3 (the first one out, literally a boulder of entertainment) and it overheated about a month ago. Sad to say, after finishing TLOU, this beast had it's final run.
I have bought my friend's 360 (totally fine, disc drive is a little buggy, takes some force to open)
and I don't mind paying 180 bucks to fix the ps3, but I'd rather put that money into a PS4, since I do not believe the xbox one is worth my time while I still have a ******** of games to run through of the 360 selection, therefore saving money from the 360 I bought from my pal.
I'm not a fanboy, but as an experienced gamer (with likes and dislikes) I do not choose the PS4 because of biased opinions, I just believe it has the most benefits for myself.
Thank you for reading.

I've had the slim the for a long while, I went through 4 before this one, and it hasn't given me any problems at all so far.
I've had the PS3 since it first came out, its the giant bulky 70gb one, and it hasn't given me any problems at all besides for the fact it would overheat and freeze sometimes. I fixed that by opening it up and cleaning the fan out.

They built it poorly but if you know enough about tech you can go in and repair any issues you have. I've had two and used the first one to repair the second one when it died.

I have the first version of the Xbox 360 and since I actually take care of it, it has never had any problems.

I've had my xbox for 4 years without a single red ring.
Take better care of your stuff.

And by "better care" you mean what? Go to China and make sure the factory worker solders it correctly? The red ring is a factory defect. You can exacerbate it by overheating it and whatnot, but if you've got the defect it's going to happen eventually. The ones from gamestop were clearly gamestops fault. As I said, one of them broke the same day I got it. I don't think any amount of poor care taking can brick an xbox in a few hours.

I guess you were just given a bad hand, I've never bought a console at Gamestop and considering your experience with the main bulk of your broken 360s coming from them I probably never will either.

My Xbox was one of the first runs that were apparently "defective", but it has been working since the first day I got it back when it came out.

I've had an Xbox for 3 or 4 years now, I've dropped **** on it, and I keep it on a carpet (which I've heard is bad) and I've never had problems with it.

i dropped my xbox off at my local gamestop to have it fixed (RROD) and they said it'd take a day or 2 to fix it. noprob.jpg any way, they said they couldn't fix it, and they'd take it for store credit and sell me a refurbished one at half price. coolbeans.png "you will have to wait a bit for our stock to come in, ok?" no biggie! so i go in to but the "refurbished" one, drop the cash, and they handed me MY xbox! after i already paid to have it fixed! those ***** tried to sell me MY! xbox! AND NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE TO IT!

I would hate that if it ever happened to me, things like this takes away all the integrity of a store. By the way, how did you know it was yours? Ad did they ever give you a proper refurbished one?

I love the **** out of my NES, my SNES, my N64, so on and so forth. The thing is, the reason modern consoles have a shorter lifespan is because they are relatively more complex than these older consoles, and they have to be in order to play the games that come out.

not only do I have all 3, but also a Sega Master System, a Sega Genesis, and a PS2 in my basement that I like to call, the Retro corner, in my bedroom is a 360 and GCN, and we have a Wii as well, I'm playing everything else outside of my 360 more than my 360. Damn older games are awesome! I'm currently playing this
