The thing that pisses me off is that it's Breast Cancer Awareness, so all the other players are wearing pink including pink Cleats, but when he wears support for a different health problem the NFL goes all ******** and goes:
"No No No only Breast Cancer Awareness, we cant make money off your cleats by selling them to auction like all the other pink items go **** yourself and supporting the disease you have been diagnosed with and is incredibly unfunded for research. Give us $100,000 for this!"

The NFL doesn't pocket the $100,000, they give it to charities. So they're basically deducting money from an overpaid athlete's salary because said athlete did not follow their contractual obligations. Not nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

As soon as you make an exception, others will want to make their own "exceptions" to their contractual agreements. I heard that he originally wasn't supposed to be able to even play, but they let him when they heard about the cause. Whether it was to save face or to legitimately not be a prick is up for debate but my understanding is that the fine was a bare minimum since it was contractual.
