Humanity started out in small numbers, anything we did then was cool and most things hadn't been done before. The smallest of inventions were awesome because they could save your village or make them prosper.
Individualism reigned supreme, and the fate of many often rested upon one man.
But as the human population began to grow, the individual began to matter less and less. More people meant more competition and more people trying to outdo each other.
Eventually only the truly exceptional stood out, but even they were expendable. There would always be someone to be replace them. There were simply far too many people in this world and far too high standards,
for any one person to truly matter.
1st guy is still quite impressive. Not trampoline to help the jump, he jumped pretty high and far, it'd be impossible almost to do a flip in his situation
both athletes used a spring board, ofc they've gotten better with the ages but one of my old gymnastics trainer made us use the oldest, worst springboard he could find to force us to get good at jumping so when it came to competitions we were better than we expected ourselves
Fun fact: This event (vault) in the 1904 Olympics was won by a guy named George Eyser who had a wooden prosthesis for a left leg. He finished the games with 3 gold 2 silver and a bronze medal. (pic related)
Guy on the right has a springboard
Guy on the left doesn't
Guy on the right runs and spins like a ******* uncontrollable retard (an impressive retard, but a retard nonetheless)
Guy on the left has clean style completely under control.
"We" have gotten better at pushing the limits and increased our knowledge of what's possible, yeah
and I do too think it's cool to see this
BUT, I've never understood why some people put the words "we" or "us" infront of something that one individual does or has done/accomplished, why do we take pride in something we would never be able to do but we know that someone else of the same species is able to do it?
