I don't think firefighters should get as much praise as they do. I mean I'm not saying what they do isn't dangerous nor admirable, but the police and especially paramedics do so much more. Think how many lives a paramedic saves over a firefighters in a given day. Paramedics are the true heroes of the emergency services but don't get nearly as much recognition.

Police shouldn't even be mentioned in this statement. Compared to how many lives firefighters save, the amount of lives police save is laughable at best.

Sorry but you can't compare firefighters to paramedics/doctors, firefighters put THEIR lives on the line to save other people's lives. Sure paramedics and doctors save lives more often but do it with minimal risk to themselves. I see your point, just can't exactly compare the two.

No being a paramedic isn't as dangerous as a fire fighter, but being a paramedic can be dangerous. They drive at very high speeds and the chance of accident regardless of how much training they have is high. They also have to deal with potentially volatile patients and are put in situations at major accidents where the area they are in is dangerous. The risk isn't exactly minimal.

It's minimal compared to firefighters risks.. Let's take for example 9/11, firefighters went inside the World Trade Center to try and rescue people while paramedics were outside possibly in safe zones.

Please no rage for mentioning 9/11.

No you are absolutely right. But at the same time take for instance the London riots. Paramedics have to be on scene at that to help anybody who gets injured. Even when its the public they are trying to help that are raging against the system and kicking off at anything government related including paramedics. I'm not for one second saying firefighters don't help people or what they do isn't dangerous. But you see things thanking firefighters all the time. But I just think people forget how much good paramedics do, and the fact that there job does have an element of danger.

They get more praise because they do less work, fair enough, I see your point with it there, but they also are risking their lives for others, it's just different to paramedics.
