Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey is a follow-up to Cosmos: Personal Voyage, which was actually presented by Carl Sagan. The new Cosmos is based off of the old one with CS.

Not sure why you're getting red thumbs, that's a valid point. His answer didn't really fit the question. The need to argue about something is not a change in our knowledge of that something.

What I was most hung up on was that he said "still", meaning that it hasn't changed. What you said is also important although that was the reason it was supposed to be funny so I let that slide but he clearly denies the fact that anything regarding the matter has changed except the period of time we have done it and it isn't as if it started in the 90s, people have always feared what they don't understand and everyone should be able to understand that.
