All those thumbs up on your comment. I dont get it. Why they arent suppose to know this movie? The Fifth Element wasnt some "arthouse" **** nobody knows about, was it?
I may hate some of this guys songs, but goddamn does he have an impressive vocal range.
When I was still singing, I had a 4 octave range, but it started at low bass and went through high tenor. I couldn't hope to hit those high notes in a million years.
I don't understand the chair thing. why did she turn her chair one second into the performance but the other two didn't? Isn't this a kind of competition?
In addition to the other responses, the judges also have a limited amount of people they are allowed to have on their "team" and if they reach that number they're buttons are essentially turned off. at least as far as I'm aware
Like the others said, it's soo they only judge by voice alone.
Once you press your button you are then saying ''i want to coach this person in the competition''. So often a judge won't press a button even if the person is good, as they don't feel they have the skill required to coach the persons singing style.
Puccini is one of the greats. (no I did not google that before I said it)
Verdi is on par with Mozart (almost), Mendelssohn and Schubert in ingenuity of writing imo, probably the best Italian. Wagner is long-winded but his explorations in tonality were earthshattering on par with Beethoven. R Strauss ameliorated some of Wagner's innovation with more concise music imo.
Ravel, however is my favorite:

I think she was singing one particular song performed in an opera-like setting in an alien future setting in the film The Fifth Element. The actual performer is, if I'm not mistaken, Vitas (the strange Ukranian cosmonaut dude "ah ah ah"), and he does a ******* killer falsetto. So she was just emulating that song.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves - these "talent shows" are nothing more than entertainment for the lower class. Anyone worth their salt knows musicianship is about dedication, talent, practice, and setting. A good writer can have a **** performance and a practiced performer can be **** at composing. Any self-respecting musician would not enter a talent show unless trying to do some edgy art thing.
ih she has sung life ..its pretty good i think .no real opera singer would even try to do this high pitch voice shifts....also she is a cutie .9,0 The movie is in my opinion one of the worst overrated movies ever, huge utterly ******** , most memorable scene was the ugly woman in blue latex decorated with platic tubes with a computervoice..just cringeworthy 1,0
