Last I heard Russia says its going to imprison anyone spreading homosexual propaganda.

If that is not homosexual propaganda, then I don't know what is, also I don't understand. Why do people try so hard to raise an Issue in a country that is not theirs, now if noone liked it I would understand, the problem is Russians are very conservative, and the great majority like the anti-gay laws.

I have a feeling this whole "save teh russian gays" is not out of kindness of heart, its just a political tool, and they are just using the gays as an excuse.

You know what, I agree.

Most of the people here want to blame the US for intervening on other countries treatment of people/use of resources, then turn around and put countries on blaze that they think should change their civil rights stance on........

As long as they're not killing them/imprisoning them BECAUSE they are gay, I suppose it's ok.

If you all really believed the US should stay out of other countries business, you shouldn't be telling other countries how to conduct their business.

Black weren't exactly a majority before, but people still fought for their rights.

Um... dude, do you know what happened back in the 1930s to the early 1940s in germany? something called the Holocaust?

And you say "Why do people try so hard to raise an Issue in a country that is not theirs..." It's a humanitarian thing. What makes humans different is compassion for others and if we don't strive to better the position and status of others that are oppressed then what is the point of civilization? They have a prejudice that is outdated and needs changed. People see that and now people are trying to change that.

Oh you can't be serious if you compare it to the holocaust...

Irregardless of his bad example. It isn't about being a political tool, it is about equality. You can literally be imprisoned for something you were born with. That is ******* ridiculous, and if you cant understand that, I feel bad for you.

Yet the laws dont lock up gay people, only if said gay people go outside and start promoting it openly, i know its a tough life for a gay person in life, but they are simply trying to stop kids from being seeing what they feel is morally wrong, im not going to judge whether its morally right or wrong but same sex relation is a difficult concept to explain to a child. Like I mentioned before russians are a very traditional bunch

Then again these arguments leave to know, so im just going to take the rest of my red thumbs and check out.

How the **** is it a difficult concept to explain to children. Just tell the kid, that man loves this man, just like you would tell them this woman loves this man.

Also, are you aware of the violence that has been happening to gay people there? Violence that is videotaped with the attackers faces easily seen cause what is ever going to happen to them for being the **** out of someone and making them drink urine? Nothing.

And they want to take children away from perfectly fine Russian gay couples. Have you seen how their government takes care of "orphans"? It is not an improvement, as much as you might feel it is.

>Difficult concept to explain to a child.

Wow, wish I knew that when I explained it to my son.

"Dad, why are those two men holding hands?"
"Because they love each other."
"Oh, like mummy and you?"
"Yes"
"Oh okay"

Really complicated **** .

Oh, and yes, the laws do lock up gay people, for expressing who they are. Just like the start of every slippery slope of laws set to oppress a specific group of people. And even if nobody is to be arrested (which is untrue) it gives a great justification for people to beat up, torture and humiliate homosexuals. Which has already happened, and continues to happen.

I think a lot of it is that now, pro-gay is becoming a majority, and as such, it's simply becoming another thing that everyone wants the rest of the world to accept.
Kinda like the anti-communist thing that spread all over the world just 40 years ago, to a lesser extent.

I was wondering the exact same thing. Russia is not there country, it has its own laws and rules and way of living. Leave them alone. And if you don't like the anti-gay laws, then leave.
