He's a genius. That's completely true, he created the most perfect vision of what life would be like in Westeros, always fearing for your life and never knowing what could happen next. The reason we feel as though we're just "waiting" for the next person to die is because he's brought our minds so far into the story that we feel the same way the characters do, scared and "waiting" and wondering who will die next. Just like real life.

He's not a monster killing off everyone, he's showing us true human nature without
the ******** of "and they lived happily ever after".

Very well thought out story and character depth and development. Amazing. 10/10

This man has damned me. As a writer with hopes to be published someday, I see his work and I think to myself, "How could I ever be this good?"

Well he's a load of bs
If you kill things of left right, you don't get attached to anyone because you expect them to die, and they become "ohhoho wonder who's gonna die this time, pass the popcorn"

If he's attempting the thing he says he is, he's doing it too much. No death and too many deaths do the same thing.

Well the books actually flesh out the characters and make them feel real. The deaths in the books are significant. Your comments are strange, I realize its an exaggeration but you cant say "all the readers" when I am in fact one of the readers who disagrees with you. It's not BS because he's talking about the books, which you know nothing of outside of skewed internet comments.

I'm not a fan of George Martin, but damn, if that isn't a good guide to what a good story is. Not to mention as a good goal to reach for when you're writing yourself. I think I'll be saving this.

Spoiler: Don't read unless you've read all of the books

Jon Snow is the bastard son of Rhaegar Targaryan and Ned's sister (can't remember her name). And he, Tyrion and Dhany are the three heads of the dragon, fullfilling the Azhor Azhai prophecy. There is also evidence that Tyrion may be the bastard son of The Mad King Aerhys and Tywin Lanister's wife. Discuss?
User avatar #47 to #45 - salihzzz (06/10/2014) [-]
lol are you taking every ssingle theory and following it?

R+L=J is true but the rest has little to no evidence, still could happen tough.

And azor ahai might be different from the prince that was promised

The books are great, but the show is starting is starting to move away from what made the books so successful, and it's relying more and more on shock factor to maintain its audience.
Oberyn's death didn't have to look like it was pulled out of a ****** teen horror movie, Grenn and Pyp did not have to die, that whole scythe thing was just overkill (even if it was very cool) the scene where Robb's wife gets stabbed in the belly doesn't exist, and the scene where Joffrey abuses hookers and shoots them with crossbows does not exist in the book.

I like R.R. Martin as a writer.
He understands how to make the reader/watcher get into something like a good writer does.

Tyrion kills Tywin and Jon Snow gets stabbed repeatedly BUT it is not stated explicitly that he dies.

Yeah, but when you kill every main character, it's really pretty pointless.

Many people consume entertainment as a perfection of life (heroes and happy endings).
When you, at every opportunity, make it even more unfair than the real world, you're kind of defeating the purpose of it.
I might as well go watch a commercial for donating to starving African children.
