Cuntwagon is good. It has a similar cadence to cunt waffle. However, cuntwaffle (before the advent of the blue waffle) has a funnier (in my opinion) mental image.

What cunt cleaver has that neither of these have is that it alliterates. Alliteration is awesome. Always.

There are plenty examples of both good and bad lyrics from both contemporary and older music.

"Helter skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast
Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?"
(One of my favourite excerpts from a song)

I like Adam Sandler though.

At least when he's doing more family-friendly movies like Grown-Ups, Bedtime Stories, and 50 First Dates.

SOAD has been one of my favorite bands ever since I bought Toxicity when I was 9.
I saw them live for the first time in July, and it was one of the best days of my life.

Video related: It's the show I went to in July.

System of a Down Live @ The Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood, CA, 7/29/2013

One of my favorite bands for years. Plus Serj's solo stuff, and Scars on Broadway is also pretty ******* awesome. Only if Scars would release that ******* album and EP.

I ******* love them!
i really wanted to go on stage and smack the **** out of them during the reunion on Wacken Metal festival 2012 i think
**** was real bad. Serj's more or less took a huge **** all over the band by not hitting a single note. the guitars and drums weren't in sync and the overall performance was crap. I wish that they had just stayed dissolved and not pulled this one last reunion crap to smear the good image and memories of a great band.

Since when did Mastodon even remotely sound like something from the 70's? I mean...I'm pretty sure Pink Floyd and Mastodon have less in common than sex and engineering....i mean, they are both good things, but are not even remotely close.

The Mars Volta doesn't sound even remotely like the 70s, so yeah, I guess whoever made this didn't really listen to the music he listed, but he has a fair point

Mastodon incorporates a lot of psych rock/melodic guitar riffs/prog rock elements into their music, which makes them a lot like Pink Floyd actually. If you're only paying attention to the instruments, that is.

I disagree. Not that Mastodon is not progressive, or that they very well could have (and probably are influenced by bands such as floyd/rush/the who etc.) but at the end of the day, progressive rock has changed, and is no longer on a comparable scale anymore. Mastodon, like most progressive music, took what they liked, and made it heavier. There was a time when the immigrant song was considered some of the heaviest music out there. similarly to how that has changed, so has the entire genre. Just because music can be labeled with the same genre, does not make it similar sounding. At the end of the day, Mastodon is modern prog, and is different from 60's/70's/80's prog, and I will argue that there are very few bands (if any at all) who have achieved that sound again.

You know Crack The Skye is a pretty progressive and psychedelic record with a lot of jazzy stuff right? I think he hints more at that.

I really love Indie Folk music, with a little Indie Rock on occasion.

Something about these two types of music just puts me so at ease.

I've never seen FJ take interest in these genres therefore I will prepare for a little dose of red.

Indie folk
-Momford & Sons
-Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zero's
-The Civil Wars
-The Light House and the Whaler (they're considered pop, but they have a folk feel)
-Of Monsters and Men
- The Lumineers
-Avett Brothers
-Snow Patrol

Indie Rock
-The local Natives
-The Black Keys
-Tokyo Police Club (they're a little more electronic)
-Modest Mouse
-Death Cab for Cutie
-Arctic Monkeys (i like their older stuff a bit more than their new stuff)
-Civil Twilight (I don't have much experience with them, but my friend loves them)
-Band of Horses (I'm pretty hit and miss with them)
-Half Moon Run (I just found them, but i like what i hear)

I've come to the conclusion that you're pretty cool.

I'm so glad a good band like Mumford and Sons has gone mainstream---gives me some hope for the future of popular music.
The Civil Wars and Lumineers are fantastic, and Modest Mouse never gets old.

Though I would say your definition of indie is more alternative.

Thank you for the complement. I truly appreciate it

And you're probably right. I've never been great with genres, so my "Indie" is really just "alternative" haha.

But i must say, I'm just glad there is someone else on FJ that enjoys these styles of music! The site is usually over crowded with Metalheads.
(not that there is anything wrong with metal)

It's just when i listen to Mumford & Son's rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer" I always get chills. And I can't say i get the same sensation when i listen to Iron Maiden

Oh God you like The Boxer. That has to be one of my favorite songs of all time. The M&S version of it is great too.
Have you heard
Bon Iver?
Horse Feathers?
TV On the Radio?

And after careful consideration and reviewing your profile I will have to say you seem pretty cool yourself.
And considering your awesome taste in music, i guess I can forgive you for being a Squid (Army all the way ;) )

But alas, i have an Organic and Physics exam tomorrow so I kinda need to get some sleep. Goodnight, and thank you for the Band names. I'll probably be contacting you again, begging for some more!

Ohhh man! I love me some Horse Feathers! I swear every time it rains i put them on, and between the sound of their violin and banjo, and the rain in the background, i can't help but be in a good mood.

As for TV On the Radio and Bon Iver, I can't say i've had the pleasure of listening to them. But i'm definitely going to check them out!
