churches aren't taxed because churches are non-profit organizations

I've honestly never heard the term 'gay privilege'
Also, churches usually donate most of their money anyway
If we taxed them, a lot of them would close down, and they'd also have to close down
a) orphanages
b) homeless shelters
c) buildings for addicts [varies from aa to weekly drug abuse meetings]
d) soup kitchens
e) various programs for the needy such as food kitchens
f) etc.
In essence, churches are charity groups, which, ehem, aren't taxed
GRANTED, I will give you that a large amount goes to the maintenance and the administration as well
But

they, by themselves, help about 10 million people
So don't give me this whiney ******** .
Again, totally agree, we should be looking at pastor paychecks and seeing where the money goes. but taxing them could hurt many charity organizations.

its because churches give away most things as donations. it would just be renaming it, plus more work for everyone and less of a chance of going to people who need it

He almost made a tweet without some edgy religion hatred.

**** . Off. Ricky Gervais. This cock-hydra doesn't shut the **** up about Christianity when no one instigates him to retort. I ******* get it. Ok, so you don't like religion, *********** . But it works for some people, whether or not it's ridiculous. I don't see you making fun of Islam or Hinduism, which are FAR more 'ridiculous'; but that would take balls to make fun of, wouldn't it? Go back to making your show about your asshole friend who is the worst ******* tourist and disrespects every culture he approaches.

I'm sorry everyone, but this ******* prick annoys the hell out of me. There's more or less of unwritten rules to comedy, and random ass cheap shots are just pathetic.

Equal rights? Name one thing besides marriage that gays aren't allowed to do.
Literally no country in the world had gay marriage 20 years ago and you're bitchy because people are reluctant to change?

Quit treating this like it's the next civil rights movement.

How are we not equal?

I can only marry a person of the opposite sex

gays can only marry a person of the opposite sex

Sounds equal to me

Churches aren't tax exempt because of religious reasons, they are tax exempt because they are non-profit organizations. Do some research before attempting to be edgy. www.irs.gov/Charities-&-Non-Profits

Small churches who genuinely help with charity and soup kitchens should be tax exempt, but megachurches that have massive golden statues and filthy rich hypocritical priests should get their asses taxed.

I really ******* hate when people like Gervais try to defend us when they just make us and themselves look like total dicks. He could have went without insulting the church for just one moment, yet he did it anyway. We aren't out to bring down the church or any institution who disagrees with our life, we just want the same rights as everybody else. I hope and pray for the day when I can tell my father I'm gay without having fear of being thrown out of the house. And I've noticed a lot of posts claiming that this is just more social justice warrior gay propaganda. If you live in place that has equal marriage rights, perfect, more power to you, but some of us aren't so lucky. So at least respect those trying to make a difference in civil rights for everybody else (excluding Rick the Dick, here).

And regarding pride parades; You are not alone. We think they are just as stupid, obnoxious, and pretentious as any protest by the Westboro Baptist Church. I honestly can't see how you can expect to be taken seriously in bondage gear and ass-less chaps. I can't even look at one without cringing more than I have on any cringe comp that has ever been posted on this site.

Also, enjoy your seizure.

Except churches are the ones donating to charities and other community service works
Gays just make their entire personality and lifestyle revolve around their sexual orientation and then complain on the internet when people don't think they're normal.

just to be clear, we're not hating or reacting to the fact religious bashing is going on, it's the fact that Gervais shoehorns religious bashing into everything he says and does. It has gotten to the point where euphoric atheists are cringing...
This time it's who said it, not what... and a little how...

But it IS about not paying taxes. Literally. We don't keep gay people from living together or raising kids. The biggest benefit a married couple gets over an unmarried one is TAX BREAKS. And btw churches don't pay taxes because they're nonprofit organizations. Like food banks and soup kitchens. Do you REALLY want to start taxing soup kitchens? Do you hate poor people THAT much?
#207 - datgermanguy (06/12/2014) [-]

There is a reason churches don't pay taxes. Pay attention in Social Studies and you can learn about something.
User avatar #85 to #70 - biscuitsunited (06/12/2014) [-]
Well if you make a religion pay taxes you can raise tax for one religion and using this method bankrupt a certain religion
