I think you may have missed the point.
User avatar #87 to #48 - europe (12/26/2015) [-]
The point is that anyone trying to sell games at a video game retailer is an idiot who has never heard of the internet
Gamestop and such still needs to make a profit on these games, so do you really expect them to pay well for these games?
#97 to #87 - anon (12/26/2015) [-]
yeah selling my games on the internet led to my house being burgled dont ******* act like selling **** on it is perfect also you can ell at other stores for more money than gamestop hell comic book store that sell games buy them for more

well honestly most gaming stores are trash i stick to digital purchases except when i really want a special edition

User avatar #75 to #16 - fiveblackmen (12/26/2015) [-]
Or maybe the store level employees don't have any control over what they can offer you. Maybe the trade-in prices are set by corporate.

I know their trade-in prices are terrible. They always have been pretty terrible. Especially if you are trying to get cash. However, it isn't the fault of the store level employees.
#88 to #75 - anon (12/26/2015) [-]
This, seriously. Can't tell you how many times I've seen a Gamestop employee treated like **** for this when it's not their fault.
User avatar #2 - mikeypooh (12/25/2015) [-]
its because they have to resell it and some times even popular games can sit in a place without ever selling or sitting long enough that it loses most of its value. so they have to think about losing money from it
User avatar #37 to #2 - makethingsworse (12/26/2015) [-]
You know, I find that their in-store credit is reasonable. I mean, you can only use it at that particular Games top, but it adds up. Buy enough games, sell enough games, and eventually you'll have enough to preorder a deluxe edition of whatever without even having to drop any cash.
User avatar #42 to #37 - jjamesgordon (12/26/2015) [-]
You can use it at any Gamestop though. Just get it on a gift card.
User avatar #59 to #42 - makethingsworse (12/26/2015) [-]
Can you keep adding to the same gift card?
User avatar #115 to #59 - jjamesgordon (12/27/2015) [-]
Yeah, you can. You can use the same gift card pretty much infinitely for store credit. However, you can never exchange it for cash value once it's been put onto a gift card.
#84 to #59 - onewhoobserves (12/26/2015) [-]

Except for the fact that the points you acquire over the years can expire.

We don't have gamestop in my country anymore, but we have a store called "game". I've been buying and selling my games for years and not once used the discount.

Turn out I only have a 10 euro discount because the oldest transactions expired.

How the **** do they expire? What's the point of this loyalty system if you **** over people for being loyal?
User avatar #76 to #73 - nevrit (12/26/2015) [-]
At gamestop the loyalty points only expire if you dont use your card for a very long period of time
User avatar #77 to #76 - abesimpson (12/26/2015) [-]
That sucks, because I've done big shopping sprees and then stop for a while.

I tried to sell a one-year-old game I got a couple weeks before for 20$. They were gonna give me 37 cents for it. How the **** is that reasonable?
User avatar #70 to #52 - trollypollyz (12/26/2015) [-]
Did you ask to trade it in? If you ask them to just take the game they will give you ludicrous prices such as that.
User avatar #107 to #70 - thegamepixel (12/26/2015) [-]
I asked to trade it in. I didn't just say "take the game."
User avatar #55 to #52 - mikeypooh (12/26/2015) [-]
people stop wanting to buy them after a certain time and dont want to pay full price when they do. its why they have the $5 bin and dont even keep them in the back
User avatar #56 to #55 - thegamepixel (12/26/2015) [-]
but you have to agree that that price is ridiculous.

His family isn't superpowered, they barely even register anymore as an influence. Jeb backed the hell away from his father and brother, and has a history of maintaining that distance to further his career.

His name and possible racist attitude I say possible because people blow things the **** out of context just to prove racism or sexism, take the comments Trump made to that Fox chick. Immature? Sure. But sexist? Nah, he was just defending himself. I don't in any way support Trump, he's a big baby with a Toupe and an attitude problem, but he isn't exactly sexist from what I've seen are why he hasn't made the leap ahead of Hilary. Which is sad because Hilary is not only displayed a complete lack of ethics but also quite possibly worse than Trump when it comes to interacting and working with others...

He lost the Public vote both times

Electoral College made him President anyway because theirs is the only vote that means absolutely anything. It doesn't matter at all who you support, it matters who's going to make others the most money
#9 to #8 - anon (12/25/2015) [-]
That's not how the electoral college works at all, dude.

Each state has a number of votes, some states have more than others. Those votes are decided by the popular vote in each state, and the winner in that state gets all of those votes.
That's what the electoral college is, not some oligarch elite that has a completely seperate vote.

If you want to complain, then complain about the ridiculous amounts of money you need to become president. And remember that it's much more viable to cheat further down. The higher up you get the easier it'd be for people to notice that something is wrong.
#11 to #9 - anon (12/26/2015) [-]
Except that in all but a few states, the Electoral College does NOT have to follow the popular vote, and HAS defied the popular vote several times in the elections of 1824, 1876, 1888, and 2000, and the election of 1960 very nearly turned out that way too.
User avatar #12 to #11 - theguythatisnotyou (12/26/2015) [-]
Well, in each state electoral colleges have to follow the popular vote, but nation wide, it does not. One could (theoretically) win the presidency by only winning the 10 most populated states
User avatar #13 to #9 - ericr (12/26/2015) [-]
"The higher up you get the easier it'd be for people to notice that something is wrong"
You mean like when the RNC tossed out Ron Paul's fairly elected delegates in Tampa and replaced them with Romney's? Yep, nobody noticed that.
User avatar #108 to #9 - thegamepixel (12/26/2015) [-]
Let's say for every electoral vote, the lines for voting are drawn where the vote is 51% democratic and 49% republican. Each vote goes democratic. Now lets say that all of california or some other heavily populated state is all republican. Republicans would have a higher amount of votes, but democrats would win. This has happened multiple times before, albeit not to this extent. I live in Delaware. We get one vote. It always goes democratic, so the 1%-49% of people who vote republican don't even get a vote because there are at least slightly more democrats in the state.

In australia you honestly can't anymore, we have a site called "Gumtree" which makes game trading / selling impossible.

I was trying to sell classic Ps2 games for 10$-20$ each, and deals on groups of games. I had guys from gumtree coming to me and saying "oh you're asking for too much, 10$ is too high for a game, I could go to gumtree n get a whole box of ps2 games for 3$"

Gumtree has really ruined the market for selling on a 3rd party site.
User avatar #93 to #66 - meganinja (12/26/2015) [-]
That IS asking too much mang.

Supply and demand.
User avatar #110 to #93 - skeletorexplains ONLINE (12/27/2015) [-]
It really isn't, Its the same- if not LESS than the others on Ebay..
User avatar #111 to #110 - meganinja (12/27/2015) [-]
Then how is Gumtree making any money?

Supply and Demand.
User avatar #112 to #111 - skeletorexplains ONLINE (12/27/2015) [-]
You keep saying that, I don't think it means what you think it means...

Gumtree doesn't make money on it. it is just a cheaper version of anything where old people are giving away **** and people can put up ads.

Just did a quick Ebay search on ps2 games, the price has gone down to 7$ so in the few months that i havn't been selling its gone down by 3$ on most games.

Now before you saying "Supply and demand" for a third time because you think you're clever, No, it isn't. The people who come and say "Oh i could get a bundle of games for 3 dollars" isn't really the same as say, Free postage or what have you that ebay gives people the option of. And not to mention, You can pay 3$ for a bunch of games, But it doesn't mean you will get the game you want at the end of the game. I won't sell a game that is a collectable for 3$ when i know very well it is worth 50$, Thats how i made money on my digimon games.

So shut up, You don't know what you're talking about at all dude.
User avatar #113 to #112 - meganinja (12/27/2015) [-]
You're mad because people are selling things that you want to sell for cheaper than you want to sell them for, but your buyers know it's possible to buy them at the lower price and refuse to pay more. If on average it's selling for 'less than it's worth' then yes it's ******* supply and demand. If it's just a few people selling for cheaper then either wait for them to sell theirs, and then sell your games at their normal price.

So either yes it is supply and demand, or just be ******* patient. Or your potential buyers are idiots, in which case, explain it to them, or be more patient.

But please what PS2 games are worth $10 to $20? The PS2 isn't old enough for them to really have many collectables

You guys are always such a broken record on this subject. One thing i always found funny was peoples audacity to think their stuff ia worth its weight in gold. Its litterally like throwing a garage sale and arguing with buyers that stuff in the 50cent bin should be worth more. If you can sell it better on your own but dont, then that is your problem. Gamestop is a corperate owned business that is trying to make money, thats it. Their prices are based off market value of how many they have on hand already and how likely are they to sell it. And yea, if you're that guy whose xbox smells like cat piss, you're getting a refurbishment charge slapped on that **** . Its not as unfair as you guys like to claim it to be, its mostly you guys just crying because you dont feel like trying to be realistic.
User avatar #72 - wellimnotsure (12/26/2015) [-]
PS4 would be 160$ Fallout would be $20. Which is amazing for being able to just get rid of something within minutes and not having to do any of the work yourself. Gamestop actually gives very fair prices for trade-ins. If you want to sell your games online be prepared to wait weeks or months.
