depends on the dev for wolvenstein, but i guess you could call smash triple A. yeah, guess you could include those though i haven't played wolvenstein.
A lot of good games are coming out. It's just that the majority of people are whiny bitches or live under a rock so only pay attention to games shoved right in front of them by mainstream media.
Truth be told, outside of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Far Cry 4, Wolfenstein, Shadow of Mordor, and a few others which really depend on the individual person's opinion, 2014 didn't have all that many successful games. 2015 has Monster Hunter 4, Witcher 3, Bloodborne, Order 1886, Dying Light, Tom Clancy's The Division, Evolve, Uncharted 4, Batman: Arkham Knight, Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, Halo 5, Mortal Kombat X, and the new Rainbow Six to look forward to. Last year was meh because it was the first year of next-gen releases, so the next-gen games were either unpolished because they were amongst the first games on the new platforms, or got ****** because they transferred from PS3/360 to PS4/Xbone during their development cycle (Which usually ***** them up, E.G. Thief, Watch Dogs, etc.). This year is when they really start to get the hang of their **** and release some good stuff. Not everything I listed might end up being great, but it's some of the most AAA titles we've seen in quite a while now.
nintendo: brand new baseball-bats to beat our dead horses with
sony: since we have secured all the **** people want and made it exclusive we don't need to put in any effort at all right?
microsoft: **** YOU SONY!! ok, if we put an "_____ edition" after the title, then maybe people will buy the games a second time?
Nintendo:
"We're trying open world in our next zelda game!"
"Look! Everyones been asking for star fox after all these years, so its back!"
"We bought bayonetta to try something new!"
"We know you miss final fantasy, but hey, xenoblade is a cool new jrpg!"
"We've made a new IP called Splatoon!"
"We're changing how people interact with games slightly with amiibos!"
Internet idiots:
"Lol nintendo just does the same thing over and over. I only like PC indie games because they remind me of my childhood, when I played nintendo."
"you know? the seamlessness of windwaker was really popular. maybe we should do that again?"
"look! everyone has been asking for metroid after we let team ninja team ruin it, so lets make a starfox game!"
"be bought bayonetta because it was more popular than we though it would be and **** the non-casuals who doesn't own the Wii-U"
"we know that final fantasy is **** and we have realized that 14 tries have not made us any better so we decided to fix the problem by changing the name and making the combat even worse! who knows? maybe it will work this time"
"we did the same thing valve did when they had portal made and hope it works. it fits because it was the gel parts of portal 2 that inspired the game" (i admit that this might actually be a fun game but i will deem it a mayfly because 1: the Wii-U controller is **** for any sort of fast phased game-play 2: i am pretty sure people will become bored with it after a week.)
"you know those ugly miniatures that are the rage among kids on toys r us? couldn't we squeeze more cash out of the little ***** if we made those? BRILLIANT!"
fanboys:
"nintendo is totally a innovative games company who only want the best for the players and are totally not a casuals only company. now excuse me while i go and play for 3 hours on my Wii-U before the tea-tray i call a controller runs out of battery"
You are correct. The police use 9mm and a 9mm projectile has to penetrate about 30 cm of human flesh to be legal, and a sniper with 7.62 projectiles would have messed them both up real good
If it was an armor piercing or anti-material round, generally they would penetrate.
However, the standard anti-personnel round is designed to shatter in soft targets after piercing bone structure, increasing internal damage and ensuring a kill. It is rare, but not unheard of for anti-personnel rounds to penetrate through.
Nah, calibur of bullet like that still isn't absolutely resistant to bone and shattering.
When a bullet goes in, it tumbles, and it breaks inside the body, that's what causes all the damage. If all the pieces are close to arteries or other special places, it can be fatally difficult to get out. Anti material sniper rifles can go through tons of armor, that's why they're anti-materiel. This type of sniper would not just go through the target unless it went through a very thin area of the body with no bone.
Anti-Materiel sniper rifle causes massive exit damage, that paired with the penetration is why the US army snipers use it mainly.
Movies mostly.
People tend to say "that shoulda been" which sounds a lot like "should of been".
To people who's native language isn't English this can be confusing at times
Oh, yeah, like the practice of releasing half-assed alpha versions of games for the full asking price, then patching them over the following year is going to stop in 2015.
All those indie devs that market a game, get people to buy it on Greenlight, then run away without completing it are just going to go away in 2015, I'm sure.
There's no way this year could possibly be exactly the same, it's not as if major companies are going to crap out sequels upon sequels because we have fought for ethics!
There's been a lot of development in the areas that hover around gaming, but not the gaming industry. Don't get your hopes up!
Im proud of my steam library. Just one indie game and I did not even buy it myself. Everytime someone wants me to buy in on games like dayz and stuff I remember I can get a full polished game for it which actually works.
Hey, there are some early access games that haven't been absolute ******** . I mean, Space Engineers for one. I bought that game in the Christmas of 2013 and we get a weekly patch with a few new items/mechanics and they just released the exploration patch which has massive worlds that are all ProcGen'd and they're planning on bringing in AI soon.
7 Days to Die is another good one, it's patched a lot less frequently and it's one of the only good zombie apocalypse games out there.
Path of Exile is an amazing ARPG which had an early access/beta release and is arguably better than Diablo 3
I believe Star Conflict was Early Access (imagine War Thunder in space) and it's doing pretty damn well.
Planetside 2 had EA fairly sure it did, at least and is doing pretty damn good.
Long story short, there are always going to be people who exploit a system for money. That's why Steam has reviews. Avoid kickstarter like the plague and instead focus on things that actually work.
Hey, I didn't say that only indie devs do that **** . Creative Assembly's done it, EA has done it, Ubisoft has done it, ******* everyone has done it with almost every major title they've released, which is what I meant by "full asking price." I should have specified, but the major companies are the most major douches.
That website is not only full of click bait, but it's also the main place people are referring to when talking about "TES6 Argonia". If this IS a real thing, it is a massive coincidence that only the most unreliable sources can be quoted.
However, if you want to cling to hope, it's not my place to take it away from you. I myself was CERTAIN that there would be a Pokemon Grey Version back when Black and White came out.
Im not dissing child games, I have infinite respect for Pokemon and Smash Bros and Zelda, but if they want more attention, they're gonna have to find a way to pump out some games that appeal to more of the gaming community.
Dude, it SELLS. Their non-franchise games just...don't. When you look at hard numbers, mario sells more titles than anything completely new would. Why would they change when they can make so much money by simply polishing what they already have?
nintendo has always been about gameplay. they dont have the best graphics. they have the most cliche stories. they produce the same game over and over, seriously look at how many mario games came out in the past couple years. but its fun. hyrule warriors was just dynasty warriors with zelda paint and it was fun as hell. smash bros is what its always been and its still fun as hell. they literally make a game they made ten years ago shine it up a bit and its the best of the series. no point buying a new cow if the same one has been producing for almost 30 years
Nintendo is one of the most recognized brands in the world, Mario is more recognizable than Mickey Mouse, the irony of which is that Shigeru Miyamoto idolized Disney. So I like to think of them as the Disney of Video Games, they'll produce something Teen/Adult friendly once in a while, but we all know that family friendly is their game compared to Sony and Microsoft.
Someone had a suggestion somewhere to put in a PvE survival mode, Three and six people modes and just constant waves of enemies that get harder with each wave. Could even make it random, it would mix fallen captains with vex minotaurs in a wave. Could put bosses at the end (Even reuse the ones from the strikes, at the higher waves just throw in two of them). I think I'd of played the game quite a bit longer if they had that. It'd of still been a disappointment because it wasn't even near what it was supposed to be, but it'd of been just a slight bit better.
People are all "oohh its activisions fault, they always do this and are a bad publisher!" But bungie ******* CHOSE to go with activision knowing what would happen. I'm sure if the makers of Halo actually needed a publisher, quite a few publishers would of jumped at the chance to do it. It's all bungie. Put it this way, there's an interview out there about why bungie teamed with Activision, I took this qoute from that. "Most importantly was that we have a tremendous deal, we have a tremendous partnership, and Bungie did not have to compromise sort of the core values of our studio. We have these seven principles of our constitution, and we stuck by those and were able to find a deal that aligned perfectly." www.eurogamer.net/articles/bungie-explains-activision-deal-interview
The matchmaking part was an extremely bad play on their half. It wouldn't be a big deal if the tower could hold up to 50 people and there was a way to type or communicate in-game. **** , I don't know, get rid of one of the bank terminals and replace it with live boards that was connected to all the towers so you can set up raids easier.
I liked battlefront but until I see the gameplay I won't get excited for it, Halo 5 won't be bought the story for halo 4 was silly to me and thus bad in comparison to Reach and I want finalfantasy 15 since it could be awesome.
I have the same opinion of SW:B3, but if the gameplay turns out good I'll want it inside of me bad... It was one of my favourite ps2 games and I've been waiting forever for numer 3.
Different FF games (unless they're the same main number such as the XIII's) have nothing to do with each other generally speaking. I think FF4 took place in the same game world as FF2, but it's not important plotwise in any way, as there's no important plot points interbranching.
The further back you go they become increasingly difficult and unforgiving grindfests (ff2 is all but unplayable). If you have unlimited time you could play them all in order, but I would recommend the order 9-7-8-6-13-12. 1-5 are good games too, but oooooold.
I have a bit of love/hate relationship with 13. 6 probably has the best story and music of them all, but it is grindy and when all is said and done it's a SNES game. I got really bored with 12 but it's extremely good looking for a ps2 game. I hear a rumor that a HD remake is in the works, might want to wait for that.
My personal favorite is 10, but 9 is a close second. Best characters by far, most gripping and feely story, fantasy steampunk (and overall design is HNNGGGG), quirky ways to customize gear and tactics for battle. And not least a good deal of humor, that's not a regular ingredient in final fantasy. 7 is of course an instant classic, the feeling "us against the big evil corporation" makes it engaging (but I'm glad they haven't reused the theme too much in other parts). And after 10 minutes of playing you'll see past the clunky graphics. 8 is told in a great way and the high-tech stuff works well, but I think the world feels a bit too empty. And just like 10 the main character is a bit of a bore. Loading your attacks with magic or boosting the GF is a cool feeling though. (And my favourite game character of all time is there! Laguna Loire, the man with the machine gun. At one point when I had more money I almost bought a Renault Laguna because I wanted to chop it down, put a cabriolet on it and theme paint it.)
Also, X-2 is pretty good too even if a lot of people hated it. it's a lightweight RPG (not so much OMG we have to save the world!), take it for what it is and you will like it. I haven't really played FFXIII-3 but XIII-2 seems pretty nice 10 hours in.
Halo Wars was pretty meh in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, and I was pumped for the idea of a Halo-based RTS I love Halo so much. I have such a massive hard-on for the whole series and especially the expanded universe of it. , but I dunno, it just fell flat for me. I would be up for a sequel if they made it a little more challenging and fun.
It wasn't that bad. I enjoyed games like Far Cry 4, Evil Within, BoI: Rebirth, Shovel Knight, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc.
The only thing that irritates me is, when someone considers P.T. as one of the best games of 2014. Yeah, it was pretty scary and really good, but it's pretty sad that a DEMO is in most of the Top 10's of people
Dark Souls II, Shadow of Mordor, Alien Isolation, Evil Within, Shovel Knight, Civilization: Beyond Earth and Far Cry 4. These are my favorite games of 2014, and they're all great games. I don't get why everyone is saying 2014 was so bad even though we had Telltale making a game off of everything to ever exist, and complete dissapointments like Watch Doge and Destiny. It wasn't a great year for games, but they released some other games that were fun even if they were just HD versions of older games.
Pretty sad the demo HAS to be in peoples top tens. Most of the "good" games this year were par for the course and only shined because everything else was terrible. Even gets worse if people don't have all the systems since the good games are spread across it. The fact that DA:I is so highly praised only shows how bad this year was when it's glaring over-fluff problems and ridiculously simplified gameplay/controls are looked over because "it's better than anything else that came out this year".
