Gaiman Best Writer

Mister Gaiman, you' re kickass. I was just
wondering, what do you think is the best
way to seduce a writer'? I figured your
answer would be pretty spectacular.
In my experience, writers tend to be really good at the inside of their own
heads and imaginary people, and a lot less good at the stuff going on outside,
which means that quite often if you flirt with us we will completely fail to notice,
leaving everybody involved slightly uncomfortable and more than slightly
inlaid.
So I would suggest that any attempted seduction of a writer would probably go
a great deal easier for all parties it you sent them a cheerful note saying "YOU
ARE INVITED TO A : Please come to dinner on Friday Night. Wear
the kind of clothes you would like to be seduced in."
And alcohol may help, too. Or kissing. Many writers figure out that they' re
being seduced or flirted with if someone is actually kissing them.

Why does this make sense?
User avatar #2 to #1 - Tusura (01/13/2015) [-]
It pertains to everyone, not just writers.

"Everyone" meaning only Funny Junks users

Come to think of it, my one friend that refuses to come on here because she hates that there is very little sauce to content is like that. "Tumblrette" is the correct term, I believe

Neil Gaiman is Best Gaiman.
Semi related note:
When Capaldi was announced as the next Doctor, Gaiman tweeted a picture of him with the capture "ISLINGTON."
This is in reference to the 1996 BBC mini-series titled Neverwhere, based off the book of the same name by Neil. A younger Peter Capaldi played the angel Islington. Pic related, it's Capaldi as Islington.
#16 to #13 - anon (01/13/2015) [-]
Do you have any links to watch it? I read the book but I can't find the series
User avatar #19 to #16 - infernalinsolence (01/13/2015) [-]
There's been two series done. A few years back, the BBC did a Radioplay of it, with Benedict Cumberbatch as Islington, James McAvoy as Richard, and Natalie Dormer as Door.
However a quick search leads me to this site www.tv.com/shows/neverwhere/
I don't know how good it is but here you are, Anon.

User avatar #32 to #31 - infernalinsolence (01/13/2015) [-]
It was fairly good. Unfortunately it would have been nicer to have it as a televised series rather than a radioplay. I'd love to see how they'd do some of the effects like Door's abilities nowadays.

Yeah no thanks. I'm not going to use my passion for writing as an excuse for why I'm socially autistic, and NOBODY should use any pseudo-intellectualism as an excuse for being terrible with people.

Fun fact: Geniuses and Hyper-intelligent people are not some mysterious force above everything or exist on a thought process so alien that no bridge of understanding can be gapped. YOU can be hyper intelligent just by working at it and developing your mind, just like you can be a socialite by training for that too. If ANYONE tries to use their intelligence or some 'cultured' hobby as a reason for social ineptitude, chances are they are only spineless jackasses who are too scared of what they don't know to try to improve and also probably not that smart to begin with.
User avatar #54 to #46 - schneidend (01/13/2015) [-]

User avatar #56 to #54 - captainfuckitall (01/13/2015) [-]

User avatar #57 to #56 - schneidend (01/13/2015) [-]
No, because you sound really pissed off for no reason, and are implying that nobody who writes could ever be bad at talking to people. Neil posted a thing with the intent of humor, and you for some reason decided that meant you should yell at strangers over the Internet.
User avatar #58 to #57 - captainfuckitall (01/13/2015) [-]
"Attention morons: 90% of every medium is **** . Anime is not somehow unique, and it's not somehow suddenly in decline. Fan service-loaded **** like Those Who Hunt Elves was coming out when Studio Ghibli was in its prime. The industry's not really that much different at all."

That sound familiar? It should, because it's your comment you made on a post about Anime. Golly gee it sounds like you were really pissed off for no reason and implying weeaboos don't know what good shows are. It seems like someone posted something with the intent of humour and you decided to yell at strangers over the internet.

In any case, I'm not implying that people who write are good with talking to people, I'm implying that very smart people know how to handle themselves in social situations, and if they can't, do not use their intelligence as a crutch to defend it.
User avatar #59 to #58 - schneidend (01/13/2015) [-]
That comment was directed to the usual brand of comments that infect anime threads, that cannot stop droning on about how ****** anime has supposedly become. It wasn't directed at the content in which it was posted.

And, like I said, you're taking the content too seriously. Nobody is using anything as a crutch for anything. Neil made a joke. He's not really suggesting you write the target of your affections a ******* note that outright states you are about to be subjected to seduction.
User avatar #60 to #59 - captainfuckitall (01/13/2015) [-]
Oh, I apologize, here, let me correct my comment.

*That sound familiar? It should, because it's your comment you made on a post about Anime. Golly gee it sounds like you were really pissed off for no reason and implying weeaboos don't know what good shows are. It seems like people were debating over their hobbies and you decided to yell at strangers over the internet.*

Better?

I'm not taking anything too seriously. The content literally said "We writers tend to not be good at dealing with outside things" when that's simply not true; whether or not it was made as a joke (though it seems like he made it as one of those "Jokes based on truth" quips), it's still wrong, and so I stood to correct it, just like you felt like correcting those people on the anime board that had no effect on your life whatsoever.

Lighten up, dude :^)
