if I recall correctly, a cop went on top of the tank and just shot the dude for no real reason (he didn't harm anybody nor was armed)

The tank was stuck in a ditch, and it never had any ammo in it. So it wasn't really a danger anymore, and the guy didn't actually kill anyone.
The guy inside voluntarily unlocked the hatch on top and put his hand up only to be shot repeatedly, because LA-cops LOL.

reminds me of GTA V, I guess cops aren't that unrealistic...

He didn't ******* voluntarily open the hatch of the tank, the cops opened it.
"He even attempted to knock down a bridge by running into the supports, but gave up after he failed to topple it with the first few hits. He eventually became caught on a concrete median of State Route 163, as he attempted to cross the median into the oncoming traffic. Four police officers climbed onto the tank. San Diego Police officer Paul Paxton, a gunnery sergeant at the time with the Marine Corps Reserve, was able to open the hatch. The officers ordered Nelson to surrender, but he said nothing and began lurching the tank back and forth in attempt to free it from the median.[2] Officer Paxton's partner, Richard Piner, leaned in and shot Nelson. The bullet struck Nelson in the shoulder. Nelson later died in the hospital."

it's possible you're right.
I haven't seen the video since the late 90s.
and all I could remember was the cop standing on top of the stuck tank shooting down into it.

he wasn't armed u say? Well maybe this picture wasn't clear enough... but it seems to me he is armed with ******* TANK

again, if my memory's correct, the tank didn't had any shells, so it's as bad as stealing a bulldozer (as long as he doesn't get away with it) but the cop just shot him point blank instead of trying to get him out (fyi the tank was stuck on something when this happened)
#14 to #9 - jeengak (12/02/2013) [-]
he stole a tank... a ******* tank... its different than stealing a car or a bulldozer.
its a ******* war machine that can survive hails of bullets UNLIKE a bulldozer.
If breaking into a military base and stealing a tank doesn't get you shot on sight, I don't know what does.

Honestly, it's not as bad as stealing a bulldozer.
Bulldozers aren't massive armored vehicles that have the capability of leveling a building and killing/injuring people with explosions. A tank is dangerous, and he stole it from a military base.

Even if it was had no shells, he was a serious danger to property and people.
Moral of the story: Don't steal a ******* tank.

he stole a ******* tank
#17 to #6 - anonymous (12/02/2013) [-]
And he tried to run over people with it. He also tried to destroy bridges.
User avatar #40 to #17 - arziben (12/02/2013) [-]
well it means my memory is incorrect, so I guess I'm wrong on this one
User avatar #8 to #6 - spartderkakus (12/02/2013) [-]
