fun facts about Switzerland
hello everybody. I am from Switzerland and we have many interesting little facts. I haven't uploaded anything in a while, so I thought I should change that by uploading a little fact comp
the flag of Switzerland is one of few flags that is quadratic, not rectangular
Switzerland is very democratic. We like to vote on all sorts of things. Earlier this year we had the chance to vote for a new national anthem, because our recent one was deemed too religious. Swiss citizens of other beliefs are supposed to be able to associate with the national anthem too, so we needed a more neutral anthem.
we were able to vote by liking the examples on YouTube, but they were all so bad that nobody wants to change the anthem anymore

Switzerlands gun per capita is near that of the USA. That is because every healthy man is required to do military service or otherwise pay a fine. If he does serve the army, he gets to keep the fully automated SIG 550 rifle during and after the service. Higher ranks get a pistol.
Breaking into a Swiss home is not a good idea, because the chances are high that the inhabitant would point a full auto rife at you...
One of our national languages is German. However many Germans that come here have trouble understanding us due to our unique dialect. Some Germans that want to work here even take classes learning "Swiss German", even though every Swiss citizen agrees that there is no such thing as Swiss German, only many different dialects.

we really love cheese. Not a Swiss cheese have holes in them. Several of our national dishes consist mainly of cheese. For example Fondue is a tub of molten cheese, that you eat by dipping bread in.
Raclette is also molten cheese, but you pour it over potatoes instead

last but not least, one of our national heroes, Wilhelm Tell. Maybe you have heard of him under the name of William Tell, but Wilhelm is how we spell it, as you can see on this monument. He is pretty much the Robin Hood of Switzerland, except he is completely fictional
