Thumbs for German Gods!

But it's spelled wrong.

Should be:
User avatar #13 to #3 - stealingbikes (07/20/2015) [-]
Norse, actually, but technically Germanic. Not specifically German.

You are correct with the Elder Futhark runes though

They are the Folk Gods of the German peoples.

Therefore they are German Gods.

That's one thing they cannot take away from us!
User avatar #16 to #15 - stealingbikes (07/20/2015) [-]
Incorrect. Modern day Germany != origin of ancient Germanic tribal people.

Norse mythology originates from the north Germanic tribes.

Educate yo'self:

I am more educated than anyone on this site.

OK then.

If you think you are so smart, then please tell me what is the Folk religion of the Germans then?
#22 to #21 - stealingbikes (07/20/2015) [-]
You're not helping yourself, genius. Just because Germans follow it, doesn't mean it originated from them. Germans specifically following Norse mythology is no different than me following Christianity. Just because I follow it doesn't mean my specific ancestors came up with it. Conversely, I have traced my ancestry back directly to Erik Thorvaldsson.

You're choosing to ignore the biggest point I'm making. Either that or you're too dense to get it. Northern Germanic tribal people covered a HUGE swath of northern Europe. German people claiming to be the exact roots of Germanic paganism is foolish and patently false. Trying to argue against that is only going to make you look like a drooling pleb to anyone who's actually studied Norse mythology and its origins.

Donar in old high german...thursday ,,Donnerstag'' is named after him
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor
#56 to #7 - anon (07/20/2015) [-]
It's called Torsdag in Danish after the Tór/Thor, so that doesn't say **** , just that the local people named their. Thursday is also the same as Thorsday, it's just pronounced differenly, so that doesn't say much.
User avatar #8 to #7 - slayerdog [OP]ONLINE (07/19/2015) [-]
Yeah, I'm not sure what that proves considering the time at which vikings were around. I'm saying Thor is *Germanic* not German.

User avatar #9 to #6 - germanblood (07/19/2015) [-]
The Germanics/Teutonics came from Scandinavia, and spread over all of Europe and North Africa thousands of years ago. That's why most Spanish and French people have German given names and surnames as well.

I am just saying that Thor was not a God, he still is. As much as any other God in the world is at least.

And that he is a German God.

Despite originally from Scandinavia ;)

Thor ORIGINATED AS and STILL IS a Scandinavian god

Hel is the ruler of Helheim, where the ones who didn't die in battle spent their afterlives, and Valhalla is ruled by Odin

indeed, but also, Freya accepted people who have shown bravery and loyalty in their lives into Folkvang, even if they didn't die in battle

well, some if they shown to have any value and showed loyalty to the specific gods/ godesses they were allowed to be somewhere other than Helheim, i think that was it

If I remember correctly somewhere in this series the whole team is violently trying to stop Thor from doing something and he is marching through them.
User avatar #20 to #10 - rhion (07/20/2015) [-]
It should be from Ultimate power. It was where Reed Richards almost destroyed a whole world in which its almost like DC. He sent a probe looking for other races in the multiverse and his probe had a virus on it from travel. He is taken away to answer for his crimes and the Ultimates go after him. In this scene Spiderman points out that Thor can follow the trail thru the 9 realms and find Reed, quicky after this the rest of team points how they should listen to Spiderman and not Fury. I dont see how the Ultimates failed, it was fresh, funny, and suspensful. Now its just a SJW *********** .
