Men having crises
Movies about male soldiers
Straight male coming of age stories
Movies with majerle white cast
White mediocrity
Benedict Cumberbatch
Ah yes so according to this infallible logic:
One of the most interesting and well made movies (Le. Birdman) made by
a Mexican director should not get nominated just because it deals with a
self destructive crisis.
War movies should step getting made and should be comepletely ignored
no matter how much they deal with the emotions and experiences of
soldiers in a war (and hew they deal with PTSD in the case of American
Sniper).
Bedhead deosn’ t deserve a nomination even thaugh it took ******* 12
years to film and is probably ene of the best coming of age film ever
made just because it' s abaut actual ******* Boyhood and the character
just happens to be straight.
**** white peeple because theory m everything and the Imitation Game
had a serious lack of coloured people even though they are based on a
true story where none of the people in the story were coloured.
I don' t even know what the **** white mediocrity is meant to mean.

By the way guys I do want to add that I don't entirely agree nor disagree with all the oscar nomination hate. People do make a valid point when they say that certain races and ethnicities are underrepresented in tv and film and frequently ignored (a good example of that is Ridley Scott's movie Exodus, which had white people act as Egyptian people). I think that representation is important in any medium, because I would feel a little bit alienated if I was of a different skin colour or something like that.

BUT ON THE OTHER HAND that doesn't mean that all other kinds of movies should be invalidated. Films like Birdman and Boyhood and Whiplash have a predominantly caucasian cast but they are still excellent films nonetheless. Representation is a nice thing but it is not a pre-requisite for a nice movie, plus it should not be forced on a movie simply due to political correctness.

Although I have to admit, David Oyelowo should have at least gotten a nomination for best actor in Selma, which is why I do partly agree with some of the complaints.
What do you guys think? I think that it's important to discuss things like this and keep in mind all the different arguments for this.

TL;DR yeah there should be more recognition for people in the industry who aren't white but that doesn't mean that movies with mostly white people are inherently bad and they still deserve recognition.

Lots of stunts people were black or maori, just no characters haha. The Witch-King, Lurtz, and Gothmog were all played by the same actor Lawrence Makoare. He also played Bolg in the Hobbit.

When you watch him in that movie, you don't even see Jake Gyllenhaal anymore. One of my favorite acting performances since Ledger's Joker.

haven't seen nightcrawler or birdman, but some people I know on facebook who are the most annoying film snobs keep complaining about how these movies haven't won awards yet. So I'm thinking that those 2 movies aren't my thing...

Night at the Museum 3 though... I cried...

Yeah, but from the sounds of the way my friends spoke about them, it doesn't sound like they're my kind of movies. I'm sure they're good movies, but they're probably not something I' enjoy

You know, gaysquib here has a point, most movies about men having a mid life crisis tend to be terrible, there are a few okay ones, a small number of very good ones, and a thousand+ terrible ones. Not as terrible as most romantic comedy "chic-flicks", but pretty close(once again, a few okay ones, some good ones, and 1000+ ****** ones). Also, bendyourdick tillitsnaps isn't in THAT many things, and the **** does this bloke mean with "bendyourbitch assoverass needs to stop being made or at least nominated(to be made? i don't even know.)"

That having been stated, the oscars have been a joke since the early 1800's, an impressive feat really, and anyone who gets hung up over them (and is not nominated or involved in a production that was nominated) are probably the same people who would competatively breed pet rocks if tv wasn't around(but the pet rock was).
