I almost wish I wanted to vote for her so I could say that I was so disgusted by how condescending and ignorant this is that I changed my mind. You know it's serious when Hillary does something so stupid that you can't believe it at first.

What's next? "On a scale of OMG to LOL, how do you feel about growing civil unrest in response to perceived institutional racism?"

You just took the idea to a whole new level by not only feeling superior to people in general, but by feeling superior to people who feel superior to other people

Ok, when even the mindless people who will follow anything that Hilary says without actually thinking about it are disgusted with her, you know she accomplished an impressive feat.

Is that better for you? Because it seems like a real mouthful to me.

But hey, whenever I see someone judging another's entire opinion because he used a word they didn't like, I can't help but think the person is incredibly close-minded.
User avatar #40 to #39 - wersand (08/15/2015) [-]
That's me, super duper close minded. I suppose I miscommunicated some of my issue. I hate the word sheeple, which does make me think of people just parroting things all day (you can blame the people I know like that for that association.) Really I think it's best not toss insults in every political opinion you have, that's half the problem with American politics in the first place.

They can't see past which candidate someone supports to recognize that they are all Americans (who all want to see America become better) and should be seeking common ground instead of throwing **** at one another.
User avatar #42 to #40 - AnomynousUser ONLINE (08/15/2015) [-]
And I'm basing my opinions of Hilary's supporters around what they're supporting.

The most recent one being this medium.com/@HillaryClinton/the-new-college-compact-73652df9543c where she's proposing making college free. People in support of this have not thought of where the money will come from to pay for not only the current professors and staff but the ones who would have to fill in to keep up with the students. They also have not thought of what's making underemployment such a common occurrence (nearly 15% in the US), with all these arts/liberal arts majors who are graduating with no demand for the degrees. They also have not thought of how college would basically become high school if it were free like it, which would devalue degrees even more. And this is all just on one program - I find there are too many idealogues who go for things that may sound good but would wind up harming the country more who gravitate towards the political left.

And with all that in mind, the term sheeple, which refers to someone who easily led/foolish, is one I use through my own opinions. So when you come in and say that I've never had an original thought in my life because I voice my opinions, I'm gonna get upset.

The budget for the military is around 600 billion dollars en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_budget_of_the_United_States#Historical_spending , I think it would be fairly easy to not spend quite so much on that, and reinvest it into our education system which in 2011 only had a budget of 70 billion en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Education#Budget . Investing in our people is a much better use for this money than spending it on useless wars.

Helping people become better is a much better idea than going into more wars, which is what most republicans are at the least furtively supporting. Hillary is not the best choice, Bernie Sanders is a much better one, but shes better than anything republicans have put out so far.

I wish you didn't comment as an anon since idk if you'll ever see this, but:

1) We spend roughly 3.3% of our GDP on our military, which is much less than a fair number of other countries (many of which we aren't friends with) and only 50% more than our allies. I say only 50% more because we are known as the world police. Whether you see it as a bad thing or not, I think it'd be more foolish for our government to be isolationist and not flex our might while we still can after seeing what happened for the first half of the 1900's when we didn't.

2) We have more than tripled our education budget (after adjusting for inflation) since the 70's, but test scores have remained the same. Also, the student's aren't learning things like the 30 basic human rights, financing, etc. What we need is to change the education system. Whether that's a reevaluation of the system itself or privatizing schooling is debatable, but when it costs more per student to educate them with public education than private, and the results are worse, I don't think throwing more money at it will solve anything.

3) People always point towards the military budget as if that's why we're in so much debt. Both Medicare/health and Social Security/unemployment (both things I don't think should be around) are 2x the military budget separately. As far as Social security is concerned, I'd rather have the money that would have been collected for taxes to invest in my own retirement, rather than them stealing taxing it from me and claiming it'd go to my retirement (it's actually going to the current generation's retirement). And if we were taxed less and economic growth had the chance to go back to the levels it used to be (2x what it is now), unemployment would be lower without government intervention.

Yeah, I can understand where that's coming from. But I'd just expect that FJ of all places would actually judge what is being said rather than just one word that's used, y'know? The reason it should come from the military is because that where it can come from, it can't come from the others because those are things that are directly helping the people. We are in the most peaceful era in human history, and we spend waaaay more than anyone else www.nbcnews.com/storyline/military-spending-cuts/u-s-military-spending-dwarfs-rest-world-n37461 on military. And lets face it, our military spending is quite inefficient, probably because government is inefficient, but theres no point in spending that much money on it.

Its true the education system is not perfect, far from it, but making it financial suicide to get higher education is a terrible idea. I'm not even worried about my education costs, I've already got it taken care of, but I truly think that even those less fortunate than me should be able to go.

And I always leave the threads open, I basically get a hard on for a good discussion.
User avatar #75 to #61 - AnomynousUser ONLINE (08/16/2015) [-]
But, in my eyes, the military is one of the few things that we need the government to provide. Yeah, we spend more total on the military, but that's because we have a higher GDP than other countries. Yes, we could cut the budget by .5-1% of GDP and it wouldn't upset me too much, but I'd rather see that money go towards the debt than anything.

In my view, the government should only provide police, fire departments, arguably roads whether it'd be better to pay tolls vs taxes is a debate in itself, and I'm not sure which side I sit on , military, and maybe a few other programs. Such programs would be the TVA - I haven't really looked into them yet, so I'll just assume it's still necessary to be government-run. Also, NASA would probably be necessary since I don't see the private sector really taking that on, with how costly it is and what not.

I just can't see throwing more money at the problem as solving it. That's all we've been doing since the 70's and it hasn't helped any (regarding education) - in fact, we've had programs that are seen as harmful pass, like No Child Left Behind and Common Core. I'm under the philosophy of the parents being responsible for choosing the child's education, especially when private educations are shown as cheaper. If I'm going to be convinced to put my faith back into the public education system, it's going to need radical improvements beforehand.

I share the idea with many other libertarians that not only should we cut the government's and federal reserve's reach/power, but we should focus on paying back the debts rather than throwing more money at other programs.
#118 to #75 - anon (08/16/2015) [-]
I definitely see what you're saying, but I trust businesses even less than the government, and I just read 1984. Businesses will try to **** us over, government we can say no to being taken to town. There is an inbetween that would be best though, as there is with everything.
User avatar #123 to #118 - AnomynousUser ONLINE (08/16/2015) [-]
I see that quite differently. The private sector operates based on mutually beneficial actions. For example, I think an apple would benefit me, so I go to the store and buy an apple with what I see as a fair amount of money. The company wanted money to continue to run their business, so they were offering the apple at a good price. If I got to the store and thought it was too expensive, I could refuse to buy the apple, and if enough people thought the same, the company would be hurt and have to change something.

Granted, I'm not laissez faire and do not think monopolies are good, so there would be restrictions like that which would prevent the supplier from taking advantage of me and the other consumers. But basically, if I don't want their good/service for whatever reason, I can either go to another supplier or just not get it at all.

Meanwhile, governments don't work that way. They forcibly take our money through taxes (or in some cases, they confiscate money. Several countries have confiscated retirement funds because of their debts, and I don't see the US as being above that) . If we don't agree with where that money's going, think they're demanding too much money, or we want to support an alternative, what's there to do? Flee the country, break the law, or enter the long and often vain processes of stopping them.

Furthermore, the government doesn't have to worry itself with cost effectiveness or pleasing the consumers as much. While the companies have to keep enough consumers happy to remain in business because they're pretty directly linked, the government can just keep taking our money. And we all know how efficient the government is with just about anything it runs.

In my view, government is not only inefficient and intrusive, but it's immoral. However, it's a necessary evil that I'd like to keep as small as comfortable.

According to this www.npr.org/sections/money/2014/05/09/310114739/whats-your-major-four-decades-of-college-degrees-in-1-graph , only 8.6% of degrees were in engineering, math/stats, and computer science. Only about 4.6% of them were in biology/chemistry which are the hard sciences (hard in the sense of not being a soft science). And this is just off 2011 data; 4 years later, I'm sure there's some differences.

And this site college.usatoday.com/2014/10/26/same-as-it-ever-was-top-10-most-popular-college-majors/ also shows that outside of accounting, nursing, biology (which is arguably useful... I'm not sure what you can actually get with that other than more schooling), STEM is not common.

#108 to #99 - lujan (08/16/2015) [-]
Yes. There's a lot of the companies that do this stuff in Florida and many companies have student loan forgiveness where if you commit a few years to the company then they will pay off your student debt. However, it's the opposite situation than above. There's more people than available jobs. In my city a Walmart just closed down and laid off all the workers. Didn't transfer them to surrounding walmarts, just laid them off without notice. If Walmart fails then you know it's **** . But it also depends what part you're in. The reason this happened, sorta - it's debatable, is because of the growth in the past couple years, and the projections for many companies were higher than the actual numbers, so people are starting to pull some money back. And this is all caused because of the population growth in florida over the past 20 years compared to job creation. So if you get accepted into any of these jobs you're extremely lucky.
User avatar #129 to #99 - thelastamerican (08/16/2015) [-]
Lots of companies are starting to do it because they can't get people to stay and work for an extended period of time, but you have to live in a state that will green-light compensation to the companies in the form of taxes.

I don't work at Amazon, but I work at UPS. Seriously, I'm tired of training people so that they can quit in a month because they don't like working nights. I drive a forklift. I don't even really work. 50% of the people that work here drive vehicles. We don't actually have to touch boxes, because there are machines that do it for us.

Well, I drive a forklift, and fix boxes, and I'm a hazmat res ponder, and I do training, but the only job I was hired to do was drive a forklift. I took on the other jobs for the extra hours.

Amazon is pretty ****** from what I hear. You had better be ready to do some walking. Or, in some of their buildings, drive a picker, witch is like a forklift, but cut in half, and you have to stand behind it instead of sit, but I digress.

Our turnover rate peaks at 6 months, because that's how long you have to work to receive full unemployment. If you want a job, and you feel like going to school for free, move here. We can work something out. And by work something out, I mean to say, I'll teach you to drive a forklift.

Her chances at winning don't look too good thankfully.

I'm gonna get a lot of backlash here so I might as well start off by saying this: I am not rooting for Hilary Clinton. My preference on who I will be voting for is private, but for the sake of this comment you can bet it won't be for her.

I honestly don't get what's the big deal with this. Yes I understand she's "trying to be hip" on a huge issue for students, but in reality she's just trying to connect to certain demographics. Everyone does it. The point of the race is to get as many people on your side. What bothers me the most though is that the people complaining about it the most are the students, or in this case the "millennials". But honest question: how many of you are even registered or are even gonna truly go to vote?

I was in a college course of 40 students last year, and our teacher asked us who voted during an election for our city. Only me and 3 others had voted. The rest of the group was basically laughing at the fact that nobody knew there was an election going on or that nobody voted. It honestly pissed me off, because many of these students were minorities. I vote because my ancestors gave their life to give me this opportunity so that I wouldn't have to live the hardships that they faced. The teacher even got mad for the same reason. In the end everyone got silent and kinda just dazed off till the lecture began again.

I'm not mad at Hilary for what she did. Her trying to reach out won't change my opinion of her negatively or positively. But what I am mad about are all these people getting furious towards her for doing this, when in reality only about 40-60% will register to vote, and only about 1/3 of that percentage will actually go out and vote. Don't nitpick what you want if you're just gonna back out in the end.

Her outright stupidity and blatant abuse of her powers makes me wonder how she has a single supporter or friend in this universe.
User avatar #150 to #124 - thelastamerican (08/16/2015) [-]
Because she may be a liar, and have no regard for law, but she's nobody's fool.
User avatar #154 to #150 - insanemanoo (08/16/2015) [-]
True but the only people she's conning are those too lazy to do actual research on her. They hear the last name Clinton and say "She wife of former president, she get my vote"

Anyone buy Hilary or Trump literally, ******* anyone but Hilary or Trump, ******* Bernie Sanders, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Jim Webb, mother ******* Willie Nelson, it's all going to be alright as long as it's not Hilary or Trump.
#95 to #32 - anon (08/16/2015) [-]
I want Jeb Bush just so we can have a huge chunk of American history dominated by one family.
Also Jeb would have the Hispanic vote thanks to his wife which will negate the Democrats black vote.
#212 to #95 - anon (08/26/2015) [-]
Please dont vote at all. thats about a retarded reason to vote for someone as "I will vote for him because black" besides the last one almost ended us

How dafuq is this possible? legalize marijuana, no gun control, make health care state regulated because I know nothing about health care, birth control to be free via health insurance, legalize marijuana, federal death penalty and I think this website was built to spread Hillary propaganda. Hillary at 74% and Trump at 66%
User avatar #85 to #74 - severepwner (08/16/2015) [-]
I just did it and got 1. Rubio 2. Trump, and mostly Republican candidates down the list, even though I believe myself to be independent. But not too far from accurate for me.

Dude the same thing happened with the 2nd Amendment.
A few years back they tried making a bunch of loopholes (I believe it was state level) to get rid of firearms.
In response a law was passed protecting people's right to own a firearm.
