They don't come from trees.

Its because they look like pine cones which were originally called pineapples themselves and then switched when they found actual pineapples. Spanish people call pineapples Pina(from their name for pine) hence the drink Pina colada but are also known as ananas which comes from the Tupi word for excellent fruit.

nah man i think yall are focusin in on the wrong aspects here

i always thought it was like...poetic and ****

yano cuz way back then in like a million BC when the early Romans or Gauls or whatever were hungry and namin **** , think what the apple represented
---it was a small, easily carriable and filling and nutritious thing to eat
---apple was clutch; practically and in the some cultures, literally a miracle fruit

and they discovered potatoes and were like "aww **** Flavius now THIS is a miracle fruit talk about nutritious and ******* cheap this is just as good as an apple but it like came from the dirt man its like a dirt apple" and then tried to kill the irish or whatever for the coveted apple of the earth

And it can grow anywhere that isn't a ******* desert. Peter the Great went to great length to introduce it into Russian agriculture, considering the fact that russian farmers of the time were ******* retarded and tried eating the plant's leaves, which are ******* poisonous.

I know we can also say 'erdapfel' to it... but Kartoffel? How does that translate to earth apple?
#27 to #11 - huszti (12/20/2015) [-]
actually germans have different names for it, depending on region. but generally, it's called Kartoffel.
User avatar #28 to #27 - tenfinnvo [OP]ONLINE (12/20/2015) [-]
