Well, for one thing, they aren't being mocked, go figure.
Secondly, and this is entirely my opinion, if they were to be emotionally "shattered" from this alone, then they have bigger problems than being burned.
Being that emotionally weak to be hurt from a piece of ham, strategically placed on a dog's face is a bit overboard.
That being said, I don't think they'd be hurt, I think the problem lies with you, moreso than anything else.

I've made cancer jokes with my brother... who was in a hospital bed... with brain tumors... which were indeed cancerous. He didn't mind one single bit, hell he even laughed.
If you're telling me these people would get hurt from a slightly amusing picture, but my brother, or anyone else I've known with cancer, would laugh with their condition while on their deathbed, then I find that assumption to be absolutely preposterous.
