I don't see it as a problem as long as everybody's open about it. Plus, if it's early in the relationship it doesn't make sense to tie yourself down to somebody you're not sure you want to be with. It'll just make you resent the person you're with if you think you're missing out when you're with them. And if you feel like you're missing out while you're with them then you probably shouldn't be together to begin with. Once you find somebody you want to be with, then it's time to straighten up. Having open relationships can be a good way to screen through potential partners simultaneously. It can help you find "the one" much quicker so you can settle down comfortably into a monogamous relationship.

But if you're straight up cheating, that's a different story...

I actually agree. You have a good point. If it's a mutual agreement, how is that anybody else's business? It is possible, I know and a lot of others probably know how it feels to have a number one partner in their lives but still lust after others...there's actually nothing wrong with a bit of variety. The whole principal of cheating is the dishonesty.

Noone forces anyone to cheat. People choose to do it on their own and i doubt it matters if this stuff gets posted on FJ anyways because
1. people are to blame for cheating, not content on the internet where people joke about cheating.
2. Noone here has a a girlfriend they could cheat on anyways.

which kind of makes sense for the early stages of dating since it's pretty much been established for centuries that it's normal for girls to have a bunch of guys gunning for them at the same time and for them (or their family) to choose their best suitor to settle down with.

To be honest I'd rather if it could just be person A and Person B see each other and don't make any romantic attempts at anyone till Either A or B makes clear to the other that the relationship is done in which case A can Look at C and B can look at D and rinse repeat till that cycle's done but I can understand why it's kind of done differently, after all the idea of 2 people each just decideing to be together after dating for a period of time is a relatively new concept in the grand scheme of things, it makes sense that it's taking a bit of time to settle into society while the ground rules are laid out.

Maybe it's different where you live but in Washington, Alaska, and British columbia (and most of that area of North America in general) It's pretty par for the course that in the early stages of dating woman date a few different guys and don't break up with the others till they're ready to commit to the one guy. I've seen it happen a lot. when I found out it was happening with a girl I was dating back in highschool I got sort of outraged and told everyone what she was doing everyones response was pretty much just "She's a girl, and you've only been dating 3 weeks, that's kind of normal for a girl to do"


furthermore it's become pretty par for the course for a girl to go out and find another guy directly before breaking up with their old boyfriend which personally I find to be a little ****** up but if it's going to be considered acceptable for that **** to happen in modern day society then I think it's perfectly fair that the type of guys that are involved with these sorts of girls gets to have a 'side chick' that they can fall back on during the earlier stages of dating or during the break up gaps.

Don't get me wrong, I wish people could just choose a partner and stick to them, but that doesn't happen and if that isn't going to happen I think the next best thing is to be somewhat honest about the nature of their relationship and for everyone to stand on even ground. Thus side chicks.

Lower yours standards, raise your happiness. My most enjoyable relationships before I met my wife? My buddy's mother who certainly was not a virgin (but was a level 56 wizard in the sack), a woman with several *********** who would eschew them all the moment I came in town on vacation (treated me like royalty. I was the most preferred ********* , she even gave me a punch card.), and finally a bar wench that had been passed around quite a bit before she met me. She was strongly devoted to me while we were together, but knew what it meant when it was time for me to move to another duty station. I'm sure she's out there, somewhere, speaking Tagalog and smelling like coconut butter.

Do you have any idea how much harder it is for any specific guy to cheat?

Even hambeasts get guys chasing them, so any decent-looking woman who wanted to cheat would have side-guys lined up around the block. Which is often the case with cheating women who rationalize it as "one man isn't enough" or "experimenting" or "I'm bored".

This is not the case with men. So don't get all high and mighty about guys cheating. While it happens with guys overall about the same (little less) than women, an individual guy winding up with a side chick is just not as likely to happen as finding out his girl's been getting dick from his best friend.
