No more crime related to cannabis because it's legal now, crime goes down

That moment when you live in Colorado and voted to legalize even though you don't participate in the consumption. And now there is a **** ton of people moving here probably for the weed....

I actually like it, it will force Boulder and Gunbarrel to make more living space and expand, thus lowering the housing prices due to supply hastily having to match and exceed demand. I want to see Boulder, Gunbarrel, Longmont and Erie connected by dense rural and a little urban sprawl, and immigrants and weed money can help that a lot, and i just have to deal with smelling the lovely smell of ganja? Well darn. I know some people dont like it, but man, i hate the smell of tobacco and burning gas but i dont protest car emissions by saying they smell bad.

i feel you brother, i live in broomfield near Denver and to go anywhere on the highways i expect like an hour to a 30 minutes of traffic. this state is getting saturated as fuk.

A lot of states are going to be legal or decriminalized soon. Delaware and Maryland just decriminalized this year. If you get popped with less than an ounce, it's a small fine and you go on about your merry business. Moving seems a little excessive, just to smoke some weed. But hey, stoners man...
User avatar #48 to #47 - sketchE (10/21/2015) [-]
yeah its been decriminalized in alaska since the 70s. basicly you could have up to an ounce and a small plant in your home
User avatar #50 to #48 - travishein (10/21/2015) [-]
I know Delaware did it because something like 30 percent of our prison population was possession based offenses of less than that amount. Stands to reason crime goes down when something isn't illegal anymore...lol.

There is actually an interesting vote here that will be giving tax refunds to citizens for the excess revenue from the marijuana tax. It's a whopping 8 dollars for everybody if it passes.
#46 to #13 - anon (10/21/2015) [-]
**anonymous used "*roll picture*"**
**anonymous rolled image**The refund is split between the general tax payers and the marijuana growers and distributors. A passing vote would mean $8 for votes and possibly $1000's for growers.
#130 to #13 - anon (10/21/2015) [-]
So basically they are buying the votes?
User avatar #142 to #130 - failtolawl (10/22/2015) [-]
It's like anti-corruption.

No but really it's setting a precedence. Here in Colorado any tax raise must be put to a vote by the people, this counts as that money would be considered a tax raise from the original set from Marijuana taxes

I work at taco bell to put myself through college. (not in Colorado but a college town so close enough) And ******* stoners are the bane of my existence. They take forever to decide what they want, they're always mumbling and quiet as **** so you can't understand what they're saying and let's not forget about the huge ass orders and the fact that they travel in packs.
Do what you want in the comfort of your own homes but being high or drunk in public places just makes you an ass.

I guess in your area they're smoking something stupid. In NYC we have control. I feel that the cashier behind the counter acts nicer and knows to get the order right. You sound like a square bro.
User avatar #116 to #107 - secondlawprevails (10/21/2015) [-]

I never got when people say weed doesn't make you slower. I have this friend who after he started smoking like everyday, started talking like your stereotypical stoner. Everything was drawn out as **** , and he "forgot" more words than usually.

Still love the guy, but weed didn't exactly make him a better person
#109 to #79 - eatwaffles (10/21/2015) [-]
**eatwaffles used "*roll picture*"**
**eatwaffles rolled image**What Mary J tends to do for some people is ease their anxiety, which makes them feel better. They feel more focused and their thoughts have slowed, which makes them feel as if they are faster, more alert, and more confident. It's all in their head though.

Studies (I'm on my phone, but if anyone is honestly interested, I'll post sources) have shown that Mary J increases confidence in abilities, but slows those abilities. Basic reflexes, memory tests, and the like showed that, while the person became more relaxed, their reflexes, memory, etc slowed. It wasnt incredibly significant, but still....they got worse, not better.

I don't smoke myself, but people around me smoke for their own various reasons. I tried Mary twice in my life, and I gotta say.....I don't understand the hype. At one point, I thought I was going to die, thought my throat was closing up, and had to keep myself calm until it was over. The second time, I was practically comatose and hated it. It's not my cup of tea, but other people do benefit greatly, so I'm always in support of full legalization.

Anyway, I'm sure there will be people who will be upset and say 'not me!'. Look, everyone is different. The studies show that, out of the people they looked at, there was some slowing. I know some people feel they drive better; in reality, you're more relaxed and your confidence increases, but you aren't any better.

Do what you want, just don't get hurt or hurt anyone else. And support legalizing it in your state regardless if you smoke or not. There are benefits for some people and our prisons are imploding; don't be selfish.
User avatar #121 to #109 - Johnsfer (10/21/2015) [-]
I don't hate weed, and I think it should be legalized, but I don't like the **** some stoners say like "WOW, WEED CURES CANCER, IT CAN BE USED FOR CLOTHES, EVERYONE SHOULD SMOKE"

I'm using some hyperbole, but I've heard all those statements, sometimes all at once. There needs to be programs in place to let people know that you shouldn't be smoking weed all day, just like you shouldn't drink all day, etc...

#126 to #121 - anon (10/21/2015) [-]
I smoke every day, but very few people are aware of it. Not the "stoner" type, and I don't advertise it.

HOWEVER, the **** that weed can do for epilepsy patients? It's astounding. My dad suffers from it, so I've done some research Cancer benefits, it makes you hungry and **** during chemo, yada, yada. But neurologically, marijuana does actually have some magical qualities, medicinally-wise.

My dad also will never smoke again, but he gets teary-eyed reading stories about children using cannaboid oils to avoid seizing throughout the day.
I'm going to go call my dad.
User avatar #138 to #126 - secondlawprevails (10/21/2015) [-]
I mean every day might not be the best idea for medical reasons. Smoking ANYTHING puts tar in your lungs. As much as tobacco? No ****** clue. I just know you can find pictures of stoners lungs and they look all black and ****** up still.
User avatar #123 to #121 - eatwaffles (10/21/2015) [-]
I agree with you, but the more you tell people 'don't do it every day', the more they will do it. For the most part, anyway. Just make it legal aND let people find out its not a cure all.

The loudest stoners are probably the ones to thank for finding out weed does have medical properties, but it's certainly not a miracle drug. My best friend (I love her, so don't get me wrong) drives me ******* BONKERS with the whole 'tell your dad to smoke weed! It'll slow the tumors on his thyroid!'. My dad just had open heart surgery; the last thing he needs to do is smoke anything. But don't tell her that.....weed is the cure all to everything! /sarcasm

Eh, there are radicals everywhere, for everything. A majority of the stoners or occasional weed smokers know there are benefits, but it's not perfect. Depends on strain, levels of various chemicals, and who you are buying from. Your local drug dealer isn't giving you a miracle drug, he's giving you whatever he could get his hands on. A dispensary or pharmaceutical pill derived of the plant with lots of studies done....well, maybe you are on to something. Maybe.

So yes, I agree. I can't stand that **** either.
User avatar #139 to #123 - Johnsfer (10/22/2015) [-]
Just do it in moderation. You can smoke often but my friend did it anywhere from 2-5 times a day every day and he sounds so slow and retarded now. He is 15 but I don't know how much that has to do with it.
User avatar #99 to #37 - trapuke (10/21/2015) [-]
I can understand why it's annoying that they order super slowly.
As far as them ordering huge orders, and coming by with a lot of people, I understand it is frustrating but you do realize; without all these customers that are bothering you, your boss would have to fire you right?
I mean, I get how annoying it is to work at taco bell, I worked there for 2 years.
The managers suck, the customers are assholes, and the working conditions are terrible.

TL;DR Basically, without these asshole customers you wouldn't have a job man.
I don't mean anything by this, just sayin

User avatar #105 to #101 - trapuke (10/21/2015) [-]
Trust me, as I said I worked there for a long while.
I know exactly the customers you are speaking of.
They are rude, treat you like **** , and do not care about you as a human being at all.

Though, to get more money, you need more customers etc...
I'm not saying you are in the wrong, really the fact that a customer can treat you like crap and you have to smile and act nice is not okay.
Though, sadly it is necessary.

My source is I am an assistant manager where I work, and literally just $50 more can mean 2 more hours/ or even a raise for an employee.
