Nice straw man. Nobody is talking about making everything legal, just something that had no good reason to be illegal in the first place. Weed was made illegal in 1937 from some ******** testimony from a single dude that played on the racism that was still extremely common back then. I don't smoke pot - never have and don't care to - but it's barely any more harmful than alcohol, which is legal. In fact booze was made illegal about a decade and a half before weed, and people quickly realized that wasn't a good idea. Honestly I'm more surprised it took us almost a century to get around to legalizing weed.

It is a decent point though, this is an instant reaction from making something illegal, legal. It doesn't really matter WHAT you make legal, it will go down quite a bit, very quickly in the short term. The question then becomes if it will stay that way.

No? There's a bit of wiggle room but the initial drop is fairly representative of the long-term so long as things stay the same. People will still turn to the black market if prices for legal cannabis are exorbitant or they're under-age.

Legalizing cannabis won't cause everyone who buys weed from a dealer to switch to legal sources and pay more money, only to realize later that they've been had and go back to a dealer. Any sensible dealer who wants to stay in business has already lowered prices to keep their customers, and anyone who went legit knowing they'd pay more probably did so because they'd prefer not to break the law.

When prohibition ended bootlegging and speakeasies mostly disappeared practically over-night, and almost a century later the illegal racket surrounding illegal alcohol sale and production hasn't made any sort of a comeback. Of course there are still people who distil, buy, and sell illegal moonshine and other spirits, and people under legal drinking age who buy through other sources, but those always existed and are hardly a product of making a previously illegal thing legal.

You say it like that doesn't make a difference but if that's the case that means that previously 10% of law enforcement attention and resources was devoted to people that bought marijuana and smoked it in the privacy of their own home. Smoking it in public is still illegal and buying/selling it from private sources is still illegal and driving after smoking is now a DUI, and giving it to minors is still illegal, so they'd still be enforcing on all those things just as much if not more than they did before so those wouldn't be reflected in the 10% number.

So really what's the harm in that? 21 y/o+ Because there's an age limit to how young you can be when you buy it people buying a bit off marijuana because you still can't buy a whole **** load of it from a charitable organization because buying/selling under the table is still illegal then going home Because you can't smoke in public having a few tokes then not leaving for the rest of the day because you're not allowed to drive after smoking it

If that made up ten percent of all the crimes they cashed in on every year that's ****** up.

The point is that there was a lot of needless resources used on the imprisonment and trial proceedings for people that were using marijuana, which is why it was a pro-factor worth mentioning. Not saying it's all of it, but a 10% drop is huge, and probably has a large correlation. This is just an opinion, but it could be proven with a correlation t-test.

I'm fairly certain that other crime rates have actually fallen, not by as much, but some. cant prove causation though.

All these things are fine and dandy, but overall crime rate will drop in the long run. I've been saying it for years, the whole "pot is a gateway drug" is only because people have to source it from dealers, and in my experience dealers rarely only sell weed, you take the people out of that world and watch the uptake of other harder drugs fall dramatically, we wont see it for 10 years, but overall this change will help the drug addiction problem as a whole

I'm sure it's a fair chunk, but not all of it.

not for me to design the parameters, its not my claim nor am I invested in this particular conversation enough to use that much time on it, I have other reports to write up. All I did was call out someone who in turn was trying to look smart by using the correlation vs causation argument solely on the fact they did not agree with the comment made by robinwilliamson. I give it to you that I wrote poor examples but given I was only waking up I am not too bothered, also it would be an ANOVA or variant of rather than a T test as you would be comparing presence and absence of substance as a factor vs count of crimes as an effector, it is easy enough to add a second factor in and base it on location to give a two way ANOVA that would give sufficient results to see weather or not it is chance.

Regardless, people should stop making claims about marijuana using scientific terms they neither understand nor back up adequately. That was my point in making that jab failtoawl

Really you don't need a stat test, you just need to look at the arrests by category. If the arrests old marijuana laws are the only thing that dropped out of the total of arrests, that would make the original assumption up top true.

I actually like it, it will force Boulder and Gunbarrel to make more living space and expand, thus lowering the housing prices due to supply hastily having to match and exceed demand. I work at taco bell to put myself through college. (not in Colorado but a college town so close enough) And ******* stoners are the bane of my existence. **eatwaffles rolled image**What Mary J tends to do for some people is ease their anxiety, which makes them feel better. They feel more focused and their thoughts have slowed, which makes them feel as if they are faster, more alert, and more confident. It's all in their head though.

Studies (I'm on my phone, but if anyone is honestly interested, I'll post sources) have shown that Mary J increases confidence in abilities, but slows those abilities. Basic reflexes, memory tests, and the like showed that, while the person became more relaxed, their reflexes, memory, etc slowed. It wasnt incredibly significant, but still....they got worse, not better.

I don't smoke myself, but people around me smoke for their own various reasons. I tried Mary twice in my life, and I gotta say.....I don't understand the hype. At one point, I thought I was going to die, thought my throat was closing up, and had to keep myself calm until it was over. The second time, I was practically comatose and hated it. It's not my cup of tea, but other people do benefit greatly, so I'm always in support of full legalization.

Anyway, I'm sure there will be people who will be upset and say 'not me!'. Look, everyone is different. The studies show that, out of the people they looked at, there was some slowing. I know some people feel they drive better; in reality, you're more relaxed and your confidence increases, but you aren't any better.

Do what you want, just don't get hurt or hurt anyone else. And support legalizing it in your state regardless if you smoke or not. There are benefits for some people and our prisons are imploding; don't be selfish.

I smoke every day, but very few people are aware of it. Not the "stoner" type, and I don't advertise it.

HOWEVER, the **** that weed can do for epilepsy patients? It's astounding. My dad suffers from it, so I've done some research Cancer benefits, it makes you hungry and **** during chemo, yada, yada. But neurologically, marijuana does actually have some magical qualities, medicinally-wise.

My dad also will never smoke again, but he gets teary-eyed reading stories about children using cannaboid oils to avoid seizing throughout the day.
I'm going to go call my dad.

The loudest stoners are probably the ones to thank for finding out weed does have medical properties, but it's certainly not a miracle drug. My best friend (I love her, so don't get me wrong) drives me ******* BONKERS with the whole 'tell your dad to smoke weed! It'll slow the tumors on his thyroid!'. My dad just had open heart surgery; the last thing he needs to do is smoke anything. But don't tell her that.....weed is the cure all to everything! /sarcasm

Eh, there are radicals everywhere, for everything. A majority of the stoners or occasional weed smokers know there are benefits, but it's not perfect. Depends on strain, levels of various chemicals, and who you are buying from. Your local drug dealer isn't giving you a miracle drug, he's giving you whatever he could get his hands on. Just do it in moderation. You can smoke often but my friend did it anywhere from 2-5 times a day every day and he sounds so slow and retarded now. He is 15 but I don't know how much that has to do with it.

I can understand why it's annoying that they order super slowly.
As far as them ordering huge orders, and coming by with a lot of people, I understand it is frustrating but you do realize; without all these customers that are bothering you, your boss would have to fire you right?
I mean, I get how annoying it is to work at taco bell, I worked there for 2 years.
The managers suck, the customers are assholes, and the working conditions are terrible.

TL;DR Basically, without these asshole customers you wouldn't have a job man.

Trust me, as I said I worked there for a long while.
I know exactly the customers you are speaking of.
They are rude, treat you like **** , and do not care about you as a human being at all.

Though, to get more money, you need more customers etc...
I'm not saying you are in the wrong, really the fact that a customer can treat you like crap and you have to smile and act nice is not okay.
Though, sadly it is necessary.

My source is I am an assistant manager where I work, and literally just $50 more can mean 2 more hours/ or even a raise for an employee.
