I count deadlifts as a core workout since core to me is not just the abdominal and obliques but also the erectile spinae. So i made a deadlift dedicated with mu ab routine.

But yeah, there's this huge debate as to whether or not deads and squats work you "core", or even your abs, and ultimately it's about the execution of the lift. If you're lifting properly, they do, if you're not, they don't. I never do direct ab work, and I've never been held back by my core strength.

I don't know about you but my penis muscles get especially sore after a good heavy deadlift session.
