I got lazy, gained weight, now I can't fit some of my clothes.
Going to lost the weight or embarrass myself trying.

Happy New Year Everyone,
Like many I will be doing a New Year' s Resolution to get Into
shape. In July I had lost my job, and for almost 5 months I did
pretty much nothing other than eat and watch TV. Gaining
about 10 pounds a month going from ISO to the I am now.
I just started a job I like quite a bit, but I still have all the
weight to lose.
So I am going to lose the weight and post the progess on a
weekly basis.
n' t You
Think I' m Sexy.
There are two reason for this, the first ls to embarass/ guilt
myself in to doing It, but also to get others will join me.
So every week I will give a photo update, post what exercises I
did, and my current weight.
Well, wish me luck. - 001

Please You think a mere twix will break me, My only weakness, is Burgers, Fries, Pizza, Cake, Ice Cream, Donuts, Kit Kats, Churros, bacon, Bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, sandwiches in general, popcorn, Soda, peanuts, Fried Chicken, and high fructose corn syrup. Aside from that I'm impervious.

And besides I'm working out, not cutting out all good food.

Let's make this interesting....

I got $50 (USD) that says this guy won't last more than four months. Honestly, I doubt he'll make it that far.

I'm gonna bookmark this page and set a reminder in Outlook to come back here April 30th to check.
User avatar #9 to #8 - ooi [OP](01/01/2015) [-]
In that I won't post every week or that I won't lost the weight?
#12 to #9 - robuntu (01/01/2015) [-]
Both - but mostly the weight.

It's nothing personal, but every single year I see all these people talking about what they are going to do.

'Hey Guys - check it out, I'm GOING to lose weight'
'Hey guys - check it out, I'm GOING to quit smoking'
'Hey guys - check it out, I'm GOING to learn a second language / get a better job / go back to school / etc....'

Around New Years especially, everyone says what they are going to do. And people around them all congratulate them. 'Hey buddy, good for you! I'm sure you can do it!' And it's all very nice. Losing weight is great, you're going to lose weight, that's great.

But almost always, they don't do what they are going to say. Hell, most people will even REPEAT the same resolutions from past years. You'd think that would be a sign that it's not effective, but eh, whatever.

Post a follow up here in 4 months/8 months/12 months and I'll eat my words; but 9 times out of 10, I'll be right.
User avatar #13 to #12 - ooi [OP](01/01/2015) [-]
It's easy to work out, It's hard to do it every day. That's why some people need someone/thing to hold them to it. Teams have coaches, soldiers have drill Sgt. the wealthy have personal trainers. With my work out buddy gone, I'll use this to provide that physiological effect, plus my friend is returning from his deployment so I'm getting my workout buddy back in a month. I'm not necessarily looking forward to our first run together though.

if you subscribed I'll guess you'll learn faster If I fail or not, and I'll take your bet. Loser donates 50 to charity of the other's choosing?
#14 to #13 - robuntu (01/01/2015) [-]
Yeah - but the truth is, if/when you get sick of it, FunnyJunk isn't going to give two ***** either way. I mean, alt+f4 and FunnyJunk disappears

If we're going to do the bet for real, the truth is I'm poor. I'll do $25, if you're up for it - but you have to pick a charity that will take PayPal.
User avatar #16 to #14 - ooi [OP](01/01/2015) [-]
True,

Not having any money, and playing that dangerous game of balancing credit cards that is what kept me a home just eating in front of the computer. I was fortunate to find a good job a week before Christmas. Because you are unable to control the results directly, lets do a 1-4 I'll bet $80 against your $20.
#82 to #16 - Cyrogen (01/02/2015) [-]
I creep up a little weight every Christmas. I'm 86.9kg now, I plan to get back to 80kg but haven't really had the motivation.

I'll join your april 30 deadline, and if I don't make it I'll random off $10 worth of steam games to your subscribers. Not sure if FJ has a list of them, if it doesn't I'll random them off to commenters on your april 30 post. FJ probably wants me to fail now

You could add to the bottom of your weekly updates a piece about everyone else that wants to join & how they are doing if they've let you know.
User avatar #94 to #82 - ooi [OP](01/03/2015) [-]
I'll try your suggestion, I've sent friend request to those that mention anything about joining, or a goal.

I would join you in losing if I had a scale that actually went high enough to tell me what I'm at. I have a scale that hits 450 and I still go over it. I actually can't do most cardio work outs due to the fact that they will destroy my already FUBAR'd knees, so the only thing I can do is diet and lift and I get no support from anyone around me. But I'm rooting for you to do your best and if I can stick to my plan you can stick to yours. Keep going man, you can do it.
#71 to #69 - anon (01/02/2015) [-]
or you could do swimming which is a good cardio exercise for people with bad legs even if you just hold on to the wall and do kicks if you're too out of shape to actually swim it could help you
User avatar #73 to #71 - demonlordmudkip (01/02/2015) [-]
I.....uh don't know how to swim. When I was a kid I fell off of a dock and hit my head on the way down and knocked myself out. When my brother pulled me out I had to have cpr performed on me because I had stopped breathing and my heartbeat was getting faint, and I just never really got over it. But thank you for the suggestion I have been trying to get over my irrational fear of deep water.
User avatar #81 to #73 - liuur (01/02/2015) [-]
You can go to a doctor's office and ask them to measure your weight. And if you can't swim, you can still (like jewnicorn said) start in shallow water. But instead of swimming, you can try walking. The increased pressure makes you strain more, and just being in the water puts less pressure on your legs. A lot of pro athletes do jogging in water cuz it works for cardio and strength building. I say on my laptop in bed...
#80 to #73 - jewnicorn (01/02/2015) [-]
Starting in shallow water is always an option! I believe in you
User avatar #77 to #73 - ooi [OP](01/02/2015) [-]
Alright, I'll guess the first goal would to get your number the scale.
It's not impossible, I'll bother in a month and see how you doing.

"I get no support from anyone around me" you dont even deserve support . what the **** how does one get so ******* fat ? you have to stuff your ******* face 24/24 with the most dense calorie food to get this ******* fat . why does every ******* thinks he's a special snowflake when he finally decides to loose some weight and be a normal person ? support for what for not eating like 5 pregnant pigs ? just put the ******* fork down , god i ******* hate fat people
User avatar #78 to #69 - liuur (01/02/2015) [-]
Try swimming. It's a full body workout and can be as relaxing or intense as you want it to be. Plus you're not on your feet the entire time.

Hardest part is sticking to it. But sticking to it long enough proves to be very worth the time and effort you put in. took me 2 years to get where I am now because of on/off working out. this caused me to gain back 5-10 lbs at a time before id get back into the routine again.

Left: Me new years 2 years ago - 215lbs
Right: Me 2 weeks ago - 165 lbs

Work hard and you'll be a sexy man in no time ;)

like just scraping 6 feet. I'm curious as to why you're curious though :o
User avatar #100 to #83 - IcyDeadPeople (01/04/2015) [-]
height usually correlates with weight so you typically weigh more if youre taller. a 165 pound guy who is 5 foot 4 would look way more muscular than a guy who is over 6 feet at the same weight(as youd expect) so i was just wondering. keep up the hard work
User avatar #101 to #100 - elemenohpe (01/04/2015) [-]
oh, yea no im not incredibly muscly, I don't want to get much bigger than I already am. I would like bigger arms but not crazy huge, they look small in that pic tho :/
User avatar #102 to #101 - IcyDeadPeople (01/05/2015) [-]
dont worry about it dude. if you dont plan on getting bigger overall then you just need to keep working out. otherwise youd need to eat alot more calories than normal.

But all joking aside, good luck on your journey to get fit, and remember:

Don't be excited to go the the gym, be commited. excitement fades, commitment endures.
User avatar #21 to #19 - ooi [OP](01/01/2015) [-]
Oh not going to the gym, I aiming to lose weight to a more athletic body, not bulked up. You can do that running outside, and if you go in a straight line away from your home with no money, even if you give up you have to walk back.

For building up my arms, my own weight will suffice and when If I need a little more I'll use elevation.

I don't know if I'll be able to lose the weight that I want to because I am just plain lazy but as of now January 1st I want to lose 30 to 40 pounds and gain some muscle mass. I stand now at 182 or so. I hope I can lose the weight in time for beach weather.
User avatar #85 to #79 - ooi [OP](01/03/2015) [-]
Well big mistake admitting that, because I am going to bother you to see that through.
User avatar #87 to #85 - forceman (01/03/2015) [-]
I'll try my best. But like I said. I am just plain lazy.
User avatar #88 to #87 - ooi [OP](01/03/2015) [-]
That's the reason I put myself out there, because I can't trust myself. I find that when you have someone else holding you to something you try a little harder.

User avatar #89 to #88 - forceman (01/03/2015) [-]
Tomorrow I am picking up my brothers old weight machine. However I need to buy some weights for it but for now it should do well. I really need to change my eating habits.
User avatar #90 to #89 - ooi [OP](01/03/2015) [-]
That's the spirit!
I know I have to fix a bad routines myself, I even picked up that horrible habit of eating then sleeping. It pretty much stop when I started working again but I still caught myself doing it on the weekend.
User avatar #91 to #90 - forceman (01/03/2015) [-]
This whole winter break has been me eating, sleeping, lounging around, and just all around being lazy. The thing about my eating is that I am super picky. Hell I haven't ate real greens and veggies in a while. I gotta fix that **** right up. Especially my sleeping. I should probably start riding my bike agan to and from school. Save gas and time. Just ****** neighborhood is the part that does help.
User avatar #92 to #91 - ooi [OP](01/03/2015) [-]
Greens you mean like the lettuce on a burger I just pull that to the side.
Joking aside it's definitely true that things like school, work they keep you on a schedule.
That's part of the reason why it is so easy waste time when you're not in school or with a job, time just passes by and the pounds add up too.
User avatar #93 to #92 - forceman (01/03/2015) [-]
Yea like this past summer I was around 150 or so. Then I basically gave up on trying to watch what I ate and gained 32 pounds and everytime I grew a bit I would tell myself. Oh don't worry you'll burn it off. But I lied to myself.
User avatar #95 to #93 - ooi [OP](01/03/2015) [-]
I did the same. It didn't really hit me until I started working again, and all of a sudden my half slacks aren't fitting, and the rest are too tight.

I have some money to buy a few more pairs, but I not going to give myself that leeway.
User avatar #96 to #95 - forceman (01/03/2015) [-]
I really realized that feeling when my body just felt so out of place. And I was uncomfortable lifting my shirt even the slightest.
User avatar #97 to #96 - ooi [OP](01/03/2015) [-]
Well it time to stop it from getting worst. I'm just about half dead from my run earlier, it's been good talking to you, goodnight Bro.
