i think something's wrong with your firefox. Close some of your porn tabs.
#102 to #7 - dyllygaf (11/14/2013) [-]
My firefox barely uses any CPU and I have a ********** laptop
User avatar #105 to #102 - davidispissed (11/14/2013) [-]
then you aren't using it right lol.
User avatar #108 to #105 - dyllygaf (11/14/2013) [-]
Haha How should I be using it then? I feel that's an appropriate amount of CPU usage for just browsing fj right now, don't you?
User avatar #114 to #108 - davidispissed (11/14/2013) [-]
are you a one-tabber?
User avatar #116 to #114 - dyllygaf (11/14/2013) [-]
Yep, that's all I need
#86 to #7 - tkuja (11/14/2013) [-]
lol no
#171 to #86 - siemen (11/14/2013) [-]
I completely agree.
a few months old, sorry, had to close them when the browser started using 6 GB ram every day.
User avatar #172 to #171 - tkuja (11/14/2013) [-]
christ you mustve had year old tabs
#173 to #172 - siemen (11/14/2013) [-]
Not really, was merely a test to see how often I open new tabs.
I just stopped closing tabs, and it took me around 3 weeks to get 3k tabs.

I did however once have a 4 year old tab on my old computer.
User avatar #178 to #173 - tkuja (11/15/2013) [-]
did it disintegrate into dust when you opened it

out of interest, what was it
#179 to #178 - siemen (11/15/2013) [-]
I dont fully remember what the tab was about, but I think it was a wikipedia article about something. Kinda recall it being something science related, not completely sure.

iirc, it was in a browser I very rarely used, causing me to not have any need to delete the tabs I had there.

#18 to #7 - fragman ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
10%?
sorry but to me that's crazy high for a browser...
User avatar #25 to #18 - davidispissed (11/14/2013) [-]
it's an older computer with a 980MHz P3 CPU. So there isn't much room for much.
#27 to #25 - fragman ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
ok, FF is excused.
User avatar #8 to #7 - nyz ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
Whenever I work with lots of tabs open, Firefox may start using a lot of CPU. But as soon as I check the Task Manager, it slooowly starts giving back the memory. Like the cat in this gif slowly closes the drawer. I thought some people might relate to this.
User avatar #9 to #8 - davidispissed (11/14/2013) [-]
oooooh. now i see. do you deal with a lot of flash intensive sites?
User avatar #10 to #9 - nyz ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
I watch lots of porn, yes.
User avatar #11 to #10 - davidispissed (11/14/2013) [-]
yeah, you should use Midori for that if you are finding too much CPU usage.

You need to login to view this link

its a bit more lightweight, so it uses fewer resources as it buffers.
User avatar #12 to #11 - nyz ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
I will definitely check it out, thanks.
#60 to #12 - CIS White Male (11/14/2013) [-]
or just use chrome....

firefox is trying to copy chrome anyhow (the new features, the look, everything, but still worse in performance than chrome)
User avatar #109 to #60 - nogphille (11/14/2013) [-]
chrome is never the answer.
#123 to #109 - CIS White Male (11/14/2013) [-]
chrome is always the answer
User avatar #126 to #123 - nogphille (11/14/2013) [-]
if you really enjoy the chrome engine, use ironware's browser.

at the least it doesn't run everything through the google servers.
#133 to #126 - CIS White Male (11/14/2013) [-]
why is it exactly bad if it runs on google servers?

paranoid much? i myself like how i can sync my phone and tablet and pc without doing anything. love how it knows what i want with just typing 1st letter.

chrome is much safer thanks to running everything thru google servers...

they don't actually spy on every single user...

i like chrome because: safer than firefox, faster than firefox, looks clean like i said... faster and safer than other big browser
User avatar #146 to #133 - nogphille (11/14/2013) [-]
good, i'm happy that you enjoy all that functionality.

i'm against the NSA tapping wires and reading your emails for the same reason.
privacy.

it's my data and i don't like it being sent anywhere i don't want it to.

i highly doubt google's using data on individual users, but uses the data to improve their adcrap.. still doesn't mean i have to give away my data.

and yeah.. more secure? if you don't want people to touch your data, then you shouldn't be handing it out in the first place.

it's faster. let's stop there.
#164 to #146 - CIS White Male (11/14/2013) [-]
use adblocker, no personalized adcrap (which you can also turn off in google if you don't like that being sent anonymously)

more secure against viruses and malwares and pishing sites and so on.

the only real data it stores (heavily encypted) is on a cloud to sync your data thru different computers or platforms. so now dropbox is bad too?
User avatar #132 to #126 - nogphille (11/14/2013) [-]
slight mistake in the software name..

You need to login to view this link
#135 to #132 - CIS White Male (11/14/2013) [-]
also if i want to use anything else than chrome than i'd use the dragon (even more improved security)

the engine is not actually "chrome" but it's not that big of a surprise from someone like you
User avatar #149 to #135 - nogphille (11/14/2013) [-]
the chrome engine is called chromium.
