Hunting and catching whales and sell them as food under the excuse of scientific purpose.

Keeping and breading marine mammals in captivity is worse than giving them a dignified hunter predator death after living a full life in the ocean where they belong.

Justifying something bad with 'at least it isn't as bad as this other thing' isn't a very good argument.

I never understood why people cared about this so much. Minke whales have a perfectly healthy population and the rate at which the Japanese were catching them was sustainable. Furthermore, Japan isn't even the only nation that has a whaling program. Both Iceland and Norway still allow it, but I don't see people freaking out about that for some reason. Of all the environmental concerns to throw time and money at, this one had to be one of the most pointless.

******** like your comment is painful to read after spending a year in Marine Bio. Congratulations on being misinformed and vocal about it.

This bait couldn't catch a trout, let alone a whale.

This is good news indeed, however, it does raise the question if they'll just come up with some other ******** excuse to keep whaling.

Wow, neg 4. People REALLY care about these whales.
Serious question then: Why? Not to be the neckbeard of the whale discussion, but what about them is so great people get all feely about it?
User avatar #61 to #60 - mayedh (04/01/2014) [-]
Idk. I see no difference between killing cows and whales. Sure there's less whales, but we kill way way more cow. I guess it's not what people are used to, so it seems wrong or strange to them.
