The infamous church fight scene from Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015). Nothing beats watching a whole load of bigoted, racist, homophobic, dogmatic, ignorant, hypocritical, hateful twatmackrels get the everliving **** killed out of them.
From John Wick (2014), when a group of assassins are sent to kill the titular hitman. I like the sensible use of the CAR system of shooting in this film; it doesn't feel gimmicky and adds a refreshing new angle to gunfights in films.
Also from John Wick, the protracted nightclub scene. Arguably the best action segment in the film. Here we see him employ both his backup and main handguns (a Glock 26 and a H&K P30L w. muzzle brake) as he chases down his prey.
From Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). A brief but neat little fight scene between the titular characters. The Winter Soldier uses (in order of appearance) an M4 w. M203 grenade launcher, a CZ Skorpion, either a SIG or USP (can't really tell), Captain America's shield, a Gerber MkII and some sort of fixed-blade tactical tanto.
The penultimate fight from The Man From Nowhere (2010).
The final fight from The Man From Nowhere. The lack of music and POV shots give this knife fight a certain tension. The main villain seems to be using a Honshu Budget Karambit.
The first major hand-to-hand fight scene in The Raid (2011). Rama (played by Iko Uwais) uses Pencak Silat, an Indonesian fighting style. Note how he tries to incapacitate rather than kill his opponents.
The machete gang fight scene also from The Raid. That ****** scary.
Mad Dog and Sgt. Jaka fight scene from The Raid.
The infamous drug lab fight scene from The Raid. Not the differences in fighting styles from our three heroes; Rama uses his signature Pencak Silat, Dagu utilises more of a kick-based Taekwando style and Wahyu seems to utilise the environment to beat down his opponents.
Hammer Girl & Baseball Bat Man, the iconic siblings from The Raid 2: Berandal (2014).
The penultimate fight scene between Rama and the Siblings in The Raid 2: Berandal. Short but ******* sweet.
The final fight scene between Rama and the Karambit Assassin at the end of The Raid 2: Berandal. Long and bloody, this scene always gives me a nice, fat combat boner.
From Bangkok Knockout (2010).
Also from Bangkok Knockout.
The assassins attack from Ong Bak 3 (2010). One of the best fight scenes in the film, and Tony Jaa slept right through it.
The Crow Demon's fight scene from Ong Bak 3. Played by Dan Chupong, he has some fantastic stunts in this scene. And his character design is cool as hell, in my opinion.
The last fight scene in Ong Bak 3, where Tony Jaa goes absolutely kill crazy in this deceptive finale.
The slave market fight scene in Ong Bak 2 (2008). Tony Jaa uses a mixture of SEA martial art styles in this scene.
This is technically all one fight scene, but it's made up of a bunch of smaller fight scenes that I broke into separate videos to make loading easier. The following fights from Ong Bak 2 are by far the best showcase for Tony Jaa's martial prowess and ability to direct a fight scene.
I totally dig the design of the ninjas in this movie; their garb and weapons stretch from all across Asia to provide an intimidating visage. Where do these ninjas keep coming from anyway?
This is probably my favourite bit of this protracted fight scene, especially when he fights those two ninjas simultaneously; one using his signature Muay Boran, the other using Hung Gar Tiger-style Kung Fu.
Here we see Tony Jaa's weapon work in greater detail, utilising a three-section-staff, a jian and a ropedart - all signature Kung Fu weapons.
The Crow Demon at the end is played by Dan Chupong. I shared Tony's reaction too when he first dropped down onto the elephant.
This huge fight scene culminates to represent Tony Jaa's rise and downfall of his character throughout the film, and you can see how degraded he gets throughout as the battle begins to take its toll on his body. Truly one of the best pieces of action cinema to date.
And that's it for this comp! This is by no means a comprehensive list, just a selection of some of my favourite action scenes from the films in my collection. And apologies about the black bars on the top & bottom of these vids, I'm not sure how to crop them.
