Tumblr rides it up the ass because pic related. Aliens are a thing in Homestuck, and these ones are called Trolls. There are about 24 trolls, 12 boys and 12 girls, and all of them are bisexual, thanks to their VERY weird Biology (they are technically insects).

So when you take 24 charecters, all with developed personalities, who can be paired up with anyone else, you get Tumblrs' wet dream. It's like what they do with Steven Universe, but 5x bigger, in that they devise crazy pairings of who loves who. Also like Steven Universe, Tumblr loves to draw their own OC's(do not steal), usually pictures of themselves with orange horns. This gets annoying fast, obviously. Paired with the fact that any "Boy Troll X Girl Troll" pairing gets tossed aside in favour of homosexual pairings, because **** heterosexuals, right?

It's a nightmare...

Well understand that the story itself though it takes ages to hit the main story it's very gripping once you have. Also everyone acknowledges that the tumblr kid is annoying as all hell. Just avoid the fandom like I have and it's pretty ******* cool.

Fair enough, but it does have its good points too. Pretty solid music, around ~2 hours of flash animations and loads of jokes, a fair amount directed at Tumblrs' expense. One of the Troll characters introduced very late into the story IS Tumblr, and he's one of the least likable characters.

Walls of useless red text are the best

You HAVE to read all of it, because there are triggers in it, and the trigger police will kill you if you don't help put trigger warnings on EVERYTHING.

It means the picture he posted showed a character from Homestuck, specifically the main charecter, John Egbert.

Homestuck is known to be pretty "cancerous" by a lot of people, for various reasons, but some like it. I guess it's sort of like My Little Pony in that regard.

It's got an art-style that flip flops between decent, terrible and repetitive, a REALLY complicated storyline, (There are combinations of prophecies, time-traveling, riddles and religions around many things, which the readers have to unravel) and one of the most diverse forms of media I've ever seen. To tell it's story, it uses Chat-Logs, normal text, comic form, flash videos, top-down walkarounds and even side-scrolling fighting mini-games. You can happily be reading a Chat-Log only to be interrupted by a mini-game that won't let you continue reading until you beat it.

Finally, it has LOADS of charecters. There are sections of the story where you will be following around 20 fully developed charecters at a time, who are lost and replaced from a total cast of around 70 in total.

Nobody likes it because it's way too complicated for it's own good, and Tumblr attacks anyone who says it has faults.

Not to mention its amazing soundtrack.
