I was just discussing that today. Humanity as a whole is still one giant asshole. The few who actually are good people and do nice thing are just a small minority and should just be counted as separate from the rest of humanity. Unless they turn evil or something.

It's more out of why he did it. Animal cruelty is awful in it's own right, but doing it just to harm another person emotionally which is worse than physical torture is just cruel. I'm not sure he should be murdered, but he definitely deserves to have the **** beat out of him.

You have to understand that at the time the homeless man had 2 things in the world, the dog and the rabbit, a lot of the money strangers gave him probably went to food for them, a lot of time and effort he put in to take care of them when he needed to look after himself. And this dude threw the rabbit off a bridge just to hurt the man. It's near impossible to get that emotionally attached to a fly.

Crimsonshadow's taking it too far, but I'd still argue animal cruelty is worth more than just a few days in jail - a month perhaps, and/or a very hefty fine. He'd get that much if he had simply stolen something from the man, or destroyed his property (even ignoring the fact that it's a living creature). Cruelty to animals is often a sign of some form of psychopathy, and even if that's not the case here, I wouldn't want to live in a society that doesn't at least somewhat protect the rights of other creatures.

B) Nobody throws random rabbits off of bridges, and it's reasonable to assume he did it to **** with the homeless guy because he ripped the rabbit out of his hands, source below
C)Considering the animals are alive, and healthy looking and homeless people don't make much money it's reasonable to assume he spends a good portion of his money on them. And all of his time is spent with them since he literally has nothing else to do.
D)Flys only live for a short time, whereas rabbits live for much longer, so while it is possible I said near impossible since it's hard for any rational person to become emotionally attached to something that quickly

I'm 20 years old, all I'm saying is that you can't compare harming the pet of someone who has nothing else in the world, to a fly. Then I had to defend myself since you just blatantly said I made everything up, when really I just deduced it using common logic.

It was the fact an 18 year old kid was sociopathic enough to throw a helpless, living, feeling creature into some god forsaken abyss to kill it just to spite a poor homeless person. Animal cruelty is definitely worth way more than two days in jail... Like what.
I honestly don't understand your lack of empathy for another creature of this Earth. Especially a creature that another human cared for, cared enough to jump into the river for.

Thankfully, before I made an asshat of myself, I looked that **** up... And they really do work 72-hour shifts in some places (You've got a bed, food, television, etc., but still.)

My respect for firemen just went way the hell up.

It varies. My dad used to have a work-dayoff-work-dayoff-work-dayoff etc schedule but he now has 48 shifts with 4 off days then 48 hour shifts etc

Not everyone is crippled the same way. And it's very possible her (I think it's a her, anyway) arms aren't strong enough to hold herself upright on a traditional swing; just because she can grip onto the chain doesn't mean she necessarily has the strength or coordination to hold herself up on a regular swingset, especially since we are to assume her legs are paralyzed. The deadweight of her legs would make it very difficult to swing properly; you use your legs a lot to swing, even when being pushed. And then add in the additional pain/danger of falling off a swingset when you're crippled, can't catch yourself properly, and may or may not (depending on what is crippling them) hurt yourself much worse.

...No. First off, you have no idea whether or not she has the strength/coordination in her arms to keep herself on the swing. Second off, you use your legs to swing too, even when being pushed, to keep your center of gravity over the seat--with paralyzed legs, they would swing in the exact opposite direction you need them to, making it much harder to stay on the swing. Third, not everyone is crippled the same way; there are plenty of kids out there who can't use their arms, either.

...Maybe try actually reading my post. If her arms aren't strong enough, her coordination is impaired, her abdominal / back muscles aren't strong enough to keep her upright, or she can't compensate for her inability to use her legs while swinging, then she wouldn't be ABLE to use a normal swing. At all. So, yes, this is better than a normal swing, since it's very possible she can't use one at all; you can't tell from this picture how deep her paralysis is, how strong her arms are, whether or not she has brain damage impairing her coordination, etc.

And, again, what about kids who don't have use of their arms at all? You saying that this is 'no better than a normal swing' for them, too?

I'd say a swing that these kids can use is much better than swing they can't.
